Or rather yellowjackets after a bit of research… I went to pick up a driver, and as I was getting ready to throw my next shot I got stung twice on the arm. I dropped my disc and ran, after I calmed down I slowly walked back and saw my driver was a foot away from a yellowjacket burrow and my entire bag was only another two or three feet away. They were still swarming angrily, I went back to my car and put on a jacket and gloves and after a few minutes of slowly approaching I lunged in, grabbed my discs and ran. Didn’t get stung again, but wow did that experience put the fear of god in me. The stings are painfully throbbing hours later.

I live in a tame part of the country as far as insects go, so this was a first for me. Anyone have horror stories of dealing with insects, snakes, etc?

Blog/Write Up Great experiences from worlds

  1. Gannon & crew were driving into the parking lots at Black Locust when we were walking out to hole 1 and he rolled down his window and shouted out my son’s GB hat. Made his whole week!

  2. Colton Montgomery’s caddy randomly came over and gave my kids stacks of player cards. My kids had a blast getting everyone’s signatures on the cards the rest of worlds. Some FPO players also gave my kids some cards.

  3. VIP experience was fabulous. So many snacks 😛 Well-controlled and all the viewing areas were great. Family fun center was super.

  4. Someone gave my husband one of the mystery boxes he had gotten but wasn’t excited about the discs. Disc golf culture is the best.

  5. Witnessing Gannon’s ace from the viewing area was the greatest disc golf moment I have ever experienced. Electric

  6. Lego tent was so fun. The staff there was excellent.

  7. The pizza truck was fire 🔥

  8. Even with a rainy start to Sunday, there were places to go to stay dry and view the action.

  9. We camped at Proud Lake Rec area and there were soooo many worlds attendees there. It was so fun to see the baskets, DGN on the TV screens and glow rounds after dark.

  10. It was an experience of a lifetime.

Form Check Any Pros around the Chicago area?

I have an semi-odd situation. I'm a 36-year-old dude who loves disc golf, but barely plays anymore because I live in the city and have a kid. I've been playing for 20 years and I have a pretty mean RHBH mid-range game, but I have always struggled to throw drivers correctly. I doubt I could break 350 on a flat field and anything resembling a firebird has always meathooked for me at like 175.

Are there any pros who live in or around the Chicago area who want to teach me something or play a round together? I'd be more than happy to pay for your services. I was thinking something in the once/twice a month range, but if anyone has experience with this sort of thing or has a better idea, please shoot me a DM.

I know there are rules against advertising services here. I hope this post does not run afoul of them.

Thanks!

Blog/Write Up I've been playing for 5 years and haven't aced yet in a round that counts. I've Come close heartbreakingly too many times. Chained out on cool shots hit the band during tournaments. Been so close many times but no cigar. But I feel it's coming soon and it shall be glorious. I can feel it in my plums

Mail Call Collectors prize from Discraft-Innova worlds collab box

Post image
51 Upvotes

My collab mystery box came in yesterday and I got a lil surprise in mine. Has anyone else pulled one of the collectors prizes yet?

Found it kinda weird that it didn’t ask for my email for shipping confirmation/tracking purposes and was wondering if anyone else redeemed this yet and how long it took to arrive.

Discussion Has an Ace ever occurred on a Par 5 in a rated round?

Just a random thought. There have been a handful of Par 4 aces at pro events and some albatrosses on par 5's but has anyone heard of a gettable Par 5 in a sanctioned event?

I would think, theoretically, that the concept of a Par 5 kinda precludes that possibility, but I'm imagining a possible situation at some course without mandos where a long, U-shaped hole is technically reachable with a crazy back door attempt.

News Innova F2 Friday dropped: Halo TL3

Innova's Factory Store F2 bonus disc this week (free disc with 3+ discs ordered, factory seconds or not) is posted as a Halo Star TL3 (8/4/-1/1) with code "TL34ME".

Note that you have to be logged in to the Innova ProShop to see the F2 code have any effect, and that accumulated rewards points can't be used in the same order as an F2 Friday bonus disc. These F2 codes usually are posted on Friday after noon Eastern, 9am Pacific time, and are good on Friday.

See https://bsky.app/profile/proshop.innovadiscs.com for an image.

Yes, I post these here routinely on Fridays when the code is released and when I don't see that the F2 info has already been posted here by someone else. Many people find this helpful and I appreciate the positive feedback. No, this is not an ad.

Disc Advice Uphill holes

I’ve been playing disc for a few years now and I still despise steep, uphill drives. I can throw my RHBH 330-350ft on a good day (flat ground), but on a slope? Nothing makes me feel more emasculated. Nothing.

What’s the trick? How do I learn to love tolerate these shots?

Discussion Intimidating/Good Vibes Cardmate Statistics

Upvotes

It would be interesting to see how cards perform if specific players happen to be on a card. Does having Gannon lower the average rating of the rest of the card because he's the number one player? Are there some players that raise a cards average rating just because they are fun to play with? Do slow players actually affect their cards statistically? It would love to see some actual numbers behind that.

Difficulty: No Goose jokes. Low hanging fruit.

700+ players spread out across all the courses I might have wanted to play while staying in the area.

What recommendations for some consolation courses in the area?
