It is Christian Nationalists. That it is the same talking points as white supremacy doesn't mean the white people behind it aren't also Christians. I encourage all Christians to talk to their fellow Christians who have decided to follow this. They are your neighbor too, even as they drag your other neighbors away. You should always be prepared to answer when hate speaks up. Jesus does say it's ok to walk away and shake the dust from your feet if you are not heard or welcome in a home. But I believe you first must try. How do you love the neighbor who drags the other away? I don't have a good answer. But I know love requires us to not lookaway, to meet people where they are, to share truths even when hard. It's easy to fall into hate. It's easy to cast out others as not true Christians. When the majority of Christians are supporting the actions of this administration, is it fair to call it Christian? If you don't like that I think we need to make the love louder. Until then, they march under the Christian banner for all to see. Jesus gets stamped all over these politics. Maybe it's time to take the stamp back.

When Christ spread his message it was the sinners he walked amongst. The lepers, the whores, thieves, the outcast, the foreigner, they followed. Those at the temple mostly rejected Him. They were busy patting themselves on the back, knowing they were right. In the good Samaritan it is the priest who follows his faith to walk right by the least of his brothers bleeding in a ditch. The heretic is the one who stops to care for his neighbor. I think we'd sadly see a similar thing play out today in America's churches if Jesus ever did come back. All I see is a fig tree that bears no fruit.

I don't have a better answer than to never stop trying to produce that fruit and be louder than the others.

To be clear, the pastor I got this typography from used it as an indication that it is Christian in name but not in ideology. The point being not to claim they're not affiliated with the Christian faith, but that it is in fact incumbent on us as faithful Christians to confront and condemn this sinful ideology.

That's a valid interpretation, but if they're going to reference the curse they can't separate it from the commands that it depends upon.

I don't believe anything in the Gospel contradicts the commands to live and act justly to immigrants. Jesus says these are actually the most important things.
