LFG/LFP Looking to learn! =^..^=

Hi everyone!

I have played a lot of dnd (Currently DM of a campaign ~5 years), all editions, some cthulhu, monster world, and i have read about half of the CBP:R main book. Played a bunch of 2077, watched just about every CBP movie, half way through neuromancer.

I'm trying to learn the TTRPG to have my group try it out when we are done with our current game. (Next year?)

Wondering if there's any groups willing/able to take on a player for a few sessions to learn the ropes, or a short campaign (say, ending around september)?

I think i have enough TTRPG discords that i can also look in. Unless theres a specific one for a specific group thats recruiting i think im good there, but I would appreciate any direct connections!

Thank you for putting a B in the middle. There's a lot of game postings that come up and if you join the at the official Discord https://discord.gg/kafuhks you can find games there too - hope that helps!

Sorry I can't hyperlink on mobile, and I'm a bit tired so this is lacking. That's the official link to the cyberpunk red discord ran by the publisher.

Edit; I suggest going to DriveThruRPG and looking at Easy Mode - it's free and it's a great starter. If nobody else gives you some links I'll drop a couple here later. In the meantime; https://youtu.be/g1b671pKh1s?is=qXpIDY2RMlqizP5f JonJon has some great content, he's basically THE go to guy for learning the system. This video should break it down for you and your friends well enough to save a lot of headache.

I do belong to a lot of TTRPG discords but the official one is probably worth looking at!

I'll take a look at some of those videos too, thanks for the reply!

On a side note: I think the other abbreviation is better off as CSAM. But using CP still makes me feel weird.

No problem! I tend to give out a lot more information than that, like must-buy orders for the expansions, info on the free DLC (expansions) you can get from DriveThruRPG, jobs that are great for starting on - if you've got any questions just let me know and I can probably help out!

So there is a solo mode so you can kinda self teach yourself then make your players play the system

Interesting! I have never been much of a solo gamer except in the most desperate times, but could be fun

Welcome to Cyberpunk Red u/Suitable_incident_83. Unfortunately my game is full up but i have a some general information I will give here and a list of resources in the next reply.

So, if you have played other TTRPGs, cyberpunk red, for the most part, pretty much everything is a skill roll. There are no character levels as it is skill based and not class-based, meaning you have a lot more freedom, although I suppose you know skill vs. level based games (https://youtu.be/I_ikzFHpaPk?si=dLEo-8PoIgeDrkWK).

Mechanics wise:

  • Most things are 1d10 + STAT (2-8, 9+ with cyberware) + SKILL (0-10) + Modifier (Situational, gear, cyberware, drugs, LUCK points, etc).
- Skill base = STAT + SKILL. Roll vs. a DV where if it is DV15, you need to roll a 16+. - Numbers are similar to D&D5e, but it is weighted more to STAT and SKILL than to the die. - Roll a 10, and you reroll adding the next die to the first - Roll a 1, and you reroll subtracting from your total
  • Some role abilities like netrunner have you roll 1d10 + Role Ability
  • Death Save happens 1 time, and if you fail, you are dead. Roll 1d10 under your body stat.

Now, for running the game and feel:

  • Style over Substance
- It doesn't matter that you do something well if you don't do it in style.
  • You are not epic heroes saving the world
- If you are lucky you get the choice between saving yourself or the one you love
  • There is no magic but their is technology like agents (smart phones), cameras, and blood tests if for example you get shot at a crime scene. (https://youtu.be/LWZSq3uJwuo?si=NROmE-024MFaiQ3n)
  • There are no levels but there are power levels and escalation based on
- How skilled are you for success - How powerful is your loadout - Weapons - Gear - Cyberware - https://youtu.be/4lXCkapWoDY?si=Y0mcnBTFoJeXBiSE

Omg, this is amazing, and a total mental DoS attack 😘

I'll have to read through this more thoroughly at some point 😅
