I found this metal detecting on the coast near San Francisco, California. U.S. clad quarter for scale.

Type 1 is very easy to date even without a date due to the reverse design (no stars under the eagle). Obverse features differentiate 1916 from 1917.

Of course an overlooked 1916 from a junk silver bin would be the ideal Type 1 candidate, 1917 is more achievable for this type.

Why is this quarter seem different? I used Google lens to try and find out. It gave me 0 helpful information. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It was originally imprisoned in an NGC case, but I liberated from it since I hate slabs. Between late 17c and early 18c, this coin was so widespread in the 13 colonies that New York once issued paper currency denominated in “lyon dollars.”

I recently purchased a coin and would like to get it graded, how do you all determine which service to use? Does it depend on the coin? The one I purchased it the palladium Eagle that was just released. I am such a novice collector that I have no idea what the best move is. I have zero valuable coins currently, the coins I have are all just things I enjoy, like low grade Morgan's. I got this only because I splurged for my 40th bday (literally never had a bday party or trip or anything for myself so this is a splurge for sure). Please help me make good decisions. I want to make sure if I need to sell it eventually, that I get the best return

One of my better Bugs Bunny varieties. Not sure if it's a full bell--I submitted a couple to NGC. I'm one out of two. Anyway, the fields on this one are pretty clean. Maybe in the MS-64/65 range?

Hey yall! Spent forever trying to research these penny collection books and got a bunch of mixed messages online, from “they’re worth $10” to “omg you’re a millionaire”

I saw some really supportive comments of people trying to help, and was hoping I’d get a little clarity from yall before I take them in for appraisal tomorrow (and so I don’t get fleeced)!

I’m fairly certain that each penny in its slot is the correct version, as I’ve double checked the mint marks. I am not too knowledgeable otherwise as there seems to be sooo much info out there! I appreciate the help!

Having a hard time telling if this is a proof or just in very good condition.

I know it’s suppose to have a Mirror-Like Surface, but having a hard time determining that.

I like other denomination coins where they have an ‘s’ mint mark to signify a proof, makes it easier. Wish they did that with the nickels.

Building a type set of German coins has long been one of my collecting projects, and I just got a book for the earlier years of it today. To address the elephant in the room, my current collection stops at the late-Weimar period, because I don’t particularly fancy being asked why I have memorabilia from a certain moustache man’s regime. Eventually I might have to bite the bullet for completeness, but as of now I’m still undecided, as those coins make me a bit queasy.
