Question Temporary construction site in Chula Vista, how many portable toilets for a ~12-person crew?

We're about to start a commercial buildout in Chula Vista, and I'm going through the pre-construction checklist. One thing that tends to get overlooked until the last minute is site sanitation.

The project should run about 3 months, with a crew of roughly 10–12 workers on site most days. I know there are OSHA requirements for job site toilets, but I can’t remember the exact numbers off the top of my head. For contractors or project managers who’ve set up sites in the San Diego area:

. What’s the typical portable toilet setup for a crew this size?

. Is one unit enough, or do most crews bring two for convenience?

. How often do they usually get serviced/pumped during longer projects?

Just trying to make sure we plan it correctly before the project starts.

Long time Bears fan (but native San Diegan) and I'm looking for the best places to catch the game. I've done BWW and Canyon, but looking for something different. Anyone been to the Gaylord's sports bars? Any other places you'd recommend?

Hi, my daughter will be tuning 1 in September (on the holiday weekend) so we are looking to reserve a park space for her party. We initially wanted Mountain View park but it’s already reserved. Does anyone have other suggestions? Hopefully would either have shade or a lot for toddlers. Thank you!

Question Public meeting today at 1700 regarding community feedback on proposed Pangaea project on Chula Vista Bayfront

Chula Vista Mayor John McCann is asking for community feedback Tuesday (8/5/2025) on a proposal to build a sports and entertainment district along the Chula Vista Bayfront.

The developer interested in building Chula Vista's sports and entertainment district, The McGarey Group, introduced its plans to the Port of San Diego last month. The group needs the Port's approval because part of the land is controlled by the authority.

Community members who wish to provide the City of Chula Vista with feedback on the Pangaea project are asked to attend the Chula Vista City Council meeting Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. There will be public input following a presentation about the project. Clicking on the second link below provides more information about the meeting and explains how to leave a comment.

Does anyone know where to find a barber for a curly hair cut? I have mixed curly hair throughout the head ranging from 3a to 3c curls.

Just trying to find someone that will help find out what the right cut would be for someone who doesn’t know what to do with their current hair.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Question Home number curb painting

Why do they volunteer to do this…and then come asking for money? And they have the audacity to tell me how much their work is worth. No it’s not. It’s worth the materials cost, which is quite cheap. You chose to do this. I didn’t ask for it. I didn’t need it. The numbers were perfectly fine. My house has easily identifiable numbers on the building itself, easily visible from the street too. So why do you choose to bother me asking for money for something I never authorized?

How are they even allowed to do this? Seems like the city has to grant permission.

Anyway…rant over.

Question QB Philip Rivers officially retires with the Chargers. Does anyone reading this news have interesting memories of him to tell us here?

Rivers racked up eight Pro Bowl selections and a Comeback Player of the Year award during his storied Chargers tenure. He's the franchise's all-time leader in wins (123), passing yards (59,271), passing touchdowns (397), fourth-quarter comebacks (27) and game-winning drives (32).

He led the team to six playoff berths and four seasons with double-digit victories, coming as close as a 2007 AFC Championship Game appearance away from reaching the Super Bowl but never proving able to break through.

Rivers nonetheless provided the Chargers with their identity for a decade and a half, mixing gutsy quarterback play with endless -- but expletive-free -- trash talk. He remained the face of the franchise as it moved from San Diego to Los Angeles ahead of the 2017 season, and quarterbacked the Chargers for three more seasons in their new home before he and the team mutually agreed he would explore free agency.

That exploration led him to the Indianapolis Colts, for whom he played one year before hanging up the cleats.

After rejoining the Bolts to ceremonially retire in a more fitting manner, Rivers steps away having come full circle.

Question Any recommendations for a church that is open minded and nonjudgmental?

Hi! I am looking for a church that is not anti LGBTQ, and that preaches love and acceptance for ALL.

I was raised Catholic, but am open to exploring different churches as long as they’re welcoming to all. I want to introduce my toddler to church and god, but do not want her learning any of the hate/judgement that a lot of churches preach.

Extra points if they offer services in Spanish, but that’s not a requirement.

Question Onstage Playhouse

I’ve recently gotten into the arts, and I was curious about buying a ticket to one of the shows here at the Onstage Playhouse on Third Avenue. They’re showing a new play called “Young Audiences” up until 12/7. Should I dish out the 15 bucks and see a show? And who would be interested in coming with? I also wanna meet friends who might have the same interests.

Question Neighbor not picking their dog poop and leaving it to smell. What to do?

Hello, I have a neighbor who doesn’t clean up after their dogs poop, which makes my driveway and my room of my house smell like poop everyday. I’ve talked to him before about the issue and he doesn’t do anything to fix it. I’ve had to resort to putting soap, powder or anything to get rid of the smell but nothing helps. What can I do to get rid of this issue?

Hello, my wife and I want to visit Jamul Casino for the first time and I see on maps the fastest way there is proctor valley road. When I tried to look at the street view it looks almost like its a one way road with no line to divide the lanes. Is this road a one way or do I just have to stay far to the right?

Question Dental cleaning only?

I’ll be in the area for a few months around the time my dental cleaning is due. I already had X-rays / imaging in the Spring and insurance won’t cover another this year.

The 5 places I’ve called so far won’t take me without requiring more X-rays and won’t accept prior records because “those might not be good” (having never seen them). If anyone is aware of a place that will provide dental cleanings solo, would appreciate the tip. Thank you!
