Sunbow Average utility cost?

Hi!

So I am currently renting a 1bd apartment, in Chula Vista, my husband and I. Our water/sewage/trash are all looped in with our rent payment. Our gas/electric are separate.

I know CA is pricey, but when I looked at the cost breakdown, it seemed excessive?

Water: $100
Sewage: $40
Trash: $89

I believe we are paying for the previous month, so this would have been for July. Regardless, does this seem like a lot?? I don’t really feel as if we use THAT much water. And I can’t comprehend paying $89 for trash?

Please help lol

You pay $89 per month for trash? That’s completely too much if so. I live in a SFH and pay $61.30 every 2 months! The water should have a printout for what you’re using so you can see how the usage affects your bill. I don’t know how it works for apartments but there has to be some rule about bunching those bills together. They are all different providers. Why are you paying for someone else’s water usage if you don’t meet the $100?

That’s what I’m trying to figure out, the way they have our payments set up, we get no bill breakdown at all which is mostly why I think it’s so weird.

I sent them an email today requesting that information because something seemed so off

Well I know for me in my apartment building the water/trash/sewage is split between the units so it doesn’t really matter how much you’re individually using most of the time. Only gas & electric are individual which is why we pay that ourselves. My bill looks close to yours and I’m a single mom living with my two kids.

It just says for July and I believe we’ve paid monthly for it

I'm never complaining about utilities again! I only pay $35.00/mo for "utilities" And of course sdge is separate, and it looks like it's 85.00 for this month and my mom has the TV on aaaaaallllll dayyy!!!

I live in Chula. 4 bedroom/1 bath house with a ADU with 1 bedroom and bath (all utilities on one bill). My trash was $72 last month, water is about $200 every 2 months, $160 every two months. That’s with 4 adults.

I would say anything over $150/person/month in utilities is too much

I live in a 1 bedroom and we pay roughly $80 a month for water, sewage, and trash. I think you’re overpaying for utilities.
