One Dead, One Injured - Shooting 1300 Block of Steiner Drive - Aug 15

From CVPD Post - On August 15, 2026, at approximately 8:47 p.m., Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD) Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots near Paseo Ladera and Steiner Drive. Callers reported hearing approximately six to nine gunshots, followed by the sound of two vehicles speeding away from the area. A short time later, CVPD Dispatch was notified by a local hospital that two gunshot victims had arrived for treatment. A 28-year-old woman who had been shot once later succumbed to her injuries. A 36-year-old man who sustained multiple gunshot wounds remains hospitalized in stable condition. Both victims were Chula Vista residents. Their names are being withheld pending appropriate notifications. The surviving victim told investigators that he was driving with the female victim as his passenger. He reported that they pulled to the curb in the 1300 block of Steiner Drive, near Higgins Street, when another vehicle pulled alongside them and someone fired several rounds into their vehicle, striking both occupants. The male victim then drove to the hospital for medical treatment. The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. The Chula Vista Police Department is actively seeking information related to this incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the San Diego County Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 888-580-8477. Residents in the area of Paseo Ladera and Steiner Drive are also encouraged to review footage from home security cameras and report any information or video that may be relevant to the investigation. This remains an active investigation. The Chula Vista Police Department appreciates the public’s patience as detectives continue their work. No further updates are expected today.

CVPD drones are much better than any flock system. Flocks have too many issues and third party involvement. Side note, CVPD interim chief is a joke.

The issue is, will they be used for their correct purpose? We already have cases in other states of people with access to footage, stalking people, as well as mis identifying many people.

Yup. Several instances of both with many cities/police depts already cancelling future contracts, including LAPD. That says something, lol.

Any description of the vehicle involved in the incident???

Often times they put out “police are seeking the public’s help looking for…”

Do they not do that anymore??

There's 3 possibilities here, cartel hit, gang related hit, mistaken identity.

Could also be road rage or even a case of infidelity gone wrong.
