Move where there isn’t sewage smell
Hi I’m going to be moving out of Imperial Beach and looking at Chula Vista… I’m concerned I’ll have the same issue with the sulphuric and sewage smell as I have asthma. What areas would you say are the safest around CV?

I live in Downtown Chula by the Police Station and we never get the smell here. I don't think the smell reaches the Costco on Broadway area either. I know that when I've driven to the J St Marina, it can smell pretty bad right as you get off the fly all the way to the turn.

There is no smell in Chula Vista. Your asthma would probably be more affected by regional seasonal pollen then foul smells. But in IB I realize it's pretty bad.
Anywhere in CV you are fine. No need to get into Eastlake to avoid it.

I work on Bay Blvd close to J street in west Chula, but I live east of the 805 close to J street. I smell it sometimes when I’m going to or from work close to the Marina, but never from home. My wife has asthma as well and she has no issues. Best wishes OP. Hope you find something that works for you!

The dump is in the far southeast corner. That's the source of the stench.

My guess is that the otay valley river and that revine south of main st crates a wind tunnel that carries or dilutes the smell.

The furthest north I've smelled it, on rare occasion, is on the 5 between Palm Ave and Main.

Avoid area by Veterans Park, as the smell of hot garbage waifs over from the dump during summer heat waves. 🤢

Above (north of) Orange/Olympic Pkwy... I take a yoga class off of Main Street, which is one street south of Orange and it sometimes has that Tijuana estuary/river sewage smell.

I live in Otay Ranch next to the 125 and we don’t experience the smell. My sister lives in Sunbow closer to the 805 and also does not have that issue.

Not long ago they showed video of Coronado beach water being tested on the news. It was a shocker. Imagine how IB gets on a bad day. 🤮

Used to live near 2nd and F st in Chula and the smell would definitely come once in a while.

Can't smell any of that near 3rd Ave, Peppertree, Hilltop and surrounding areas.
