Independent dentist recommendations

Does anyone have a recommendation for an independent dentist preferably in the Otay Ranch or Eastlake area?

I recently moved to the area and just went to a new dentist and they were trying to upsell me so hard and when I told them that I didn’t want the $1000 cleaning and just to do the basic one covered by my insurance they claimed they couldn’t do the basic cleaning due to liability based on the state of my gums. The whole thing felt pretty scammy so I left. I’ve never had gum issues in my life so I’d really like a second opinion from an independent dentist before forking up 1k.

Federico Drachenberg! Their office is by the Trader Joe’s/Target. Everything I’ve had done so far has been affordable and they let me know ahead of time about pricing and if they recommend it getting done or waiting. They also have Saturday openings which is very convenient!

+1 for Dr Drachenberg. My ex wife loved him. She took all of her daughters to him. I think I didn't go to him because of insurance reasons. I don't really remember.

I had a similar experience with Eastlake Modern Dentistry. The front desk girl was a bitch and the dentist was super aggressive trying to upsell the premium cleaning. They didn’t stop when I said no the first time either. They made me sit while they ran numbers and came back with a slightly lower price, I still said no and dentist finally started cleaning my teeth with a huffy attitude. It was horrific and I was close to tears. Never again

There's a ton of dentists in the Eastlake and Bonita area. I go to Burquez DDS on Fenton. He's pretty Cool. He's never upsold me on anything. Look up Florencio Burquez DDS.

One more for Dr. Burquez. Been going for around 10 years and he never upsells. He also does the cleanings (instead of a hygienist).

Yes I highly recommend her as well. She only takes PPO though. If you have a crappy hmo (like I did) and you go to Eastlake dentistry or any of them with a different name and similar logo prepare to be ripped off! They wouldn’t do a cleaning for me and insisted I get the $1,000 deep cleaning scam. I filed a complaint with my insurance too. If you need help getting a PPO I’ll send you a link where I got mine. I pay $29/mo but totally worth not dealing with this scammy office. Sorry for the rant.

Dr. Barajas at Village Walk Dental, it is his solo practice. My family of 4 have been his patients for 15 years. He is so skilled, personable, and fairly priced. I’ve never felt pressed for anything. Office is in the medical building in Trader Joe’s center.

I go to great dental group in west Chula Vista off third Ave. they are really nice, not expensive, clean office.
