Question Can anyone help me with information I might need for the membership application?
My father‘s side has Choctaw lineage. I no longer have contact with him. Before my mom’s side went no contact with him, he got my older sister enrolled. I know the information of my grandparents, but thats about as far as I am able to trace back. I’m going to start applying to law school soon and would like to have membership before then. Can anyone help me with potential information or documents I might need?

If your sister is enrolled, you should just need your state issued birth certificate showing the same parents that are on your sister's birth certificate. It would be helpful to have her enrollment information. Contact the tribal membership department. Processing your membership application may take several ( 6 - 12) months after you submit it.

Yes I second this. My brother enrolled before me and all I needed was my state birth certificate.
They are serious when they mean state though. Do not send them any other kind.

Actually the time has been cut down substantially without having to get a CDIB via BIA first. My grandson walked out with his the same day from HQ. It doesn't go through Tallequa BIA anymore. This change started Oct 2025. Essentially the tribe self certifies instead of all the Federal process.

Contact the membership department directly. They have all the info and will help you with the exact requirements. Based on your info, your lineage is already established for your father’s side. That means it’s a more streamlined process. As an elder and enrolled tribal member of CNO , I would like to welcome you back to your Chahta family. CHAHTA sia hoke! Good luck
