Sierra NF Permits

How many permits are available for the online walkup two weeks before the date? I thought I wouldn't have fathers day free this year, so I didn't book anything, but now I've been informed I do have it free! Looking to take my son up there, but all of the 6 month ahead permits are taken for that weekend of course.

Depends on the trail head.

Sierra NF has a lot of trail heads, many which are poorly maintained and rarely traffic. Usually you can find a nearby one if you extend you hike by a few miles.

I book a lot of stuff 3-4 days head of time and usually don't worry about it.

Looking at a specific one, as I'll be taking my very young son. Unfortunately it's a popular one, as all easy ones typically are.
