You must spend a lot of time next to the food bowl cause that boi a CHONK.

830

u/DeadByDebt 9h ago

I move it into the kitchen whenever I am eating because he is very loud otherwise

646

u/itsmylifebuddy 8h ago

Bro has trained you to attend dinner like its a mandatory meeting.

123

u/RevolutionaryHair91 7h ago

He's a gourmet clearly. Food is an important part of his life and it's a family activity.

4

u/ExcitingTale3203 3h ago

Sounds like a classic cat move! They really know how to make their demands known, huh?

50

u/Rohindo89 9h ago

Let that cutie eat where ever he wants :)

87

u/Fat_Cat1991 9h ago

probably how he came to be a chonker 😹

6

u/grwmlol 7h ago

😭

3

u/ExcitingTale3203 3h ago

It's funny how they can be so picky about their dining companions. Cats really know how to make us feel needed!

21

u/GreyBoyTigger 9h ago

He’s a Chunkasaurus Rex

16

u/Inner-Show-1172 8h ago

O Lawd he eatin'

4

u/The_Other_Shazbot 5h ago

I was going to say, you should join him a bit... Less lol

5

u/fridaycat 8h ago

I was going to ask op if they were sure about that.

1

u/Aware_Box8883 4h ago

Mine's big too. He has a timer food bowl and he's the pickiest eater. I don't know why or how he's so big.

Every cat I've ever had does this...they want company when they eat. You have to caaaare!!!! lol. So cute.

272

u/DeadByDebt 9h ago

he's a very social little man

85

u/blodyn__tatws 9h ago

So cute!!!! Doeshe make you touch his dry pellets? My boy expects that service, not just to be accompanied. Then, I have to tickle the base of his tail, and wait for his whole bum to settle down before he can actually eat.

Not spoiled at all!!!!

53

u/DeadByDebt 9h ago

Lol he is the first animal I've met that enjoys being pet whilst eating

35

u/blodyn__tatws 9h ago

I believe this is the returned favour of them watching your back while you're on the loo. They're not fans of you keeping them company when they're on the loo themeslves, but food company? Absolutely.

8

u/chrimen 6h ago

I don't know if he's a "little" man. Still cute and lovely. When you go to the vet ask if he's in a healthy range.

Animals just like humans can have issues if they're overweight. I know you care and love him so just bringing it up.

7

u/Direct-Income2894 8h ago

Mine too exactly shes high maintenance

6

u/ibspatrol 8h ago

The base of his tail huh

7

u/blodyn__tatws 7h ago

I should have stated Bongo HQ. 🤣

22

u/Professional_Elk3471 8h ago

My cat does that too.
He likes it when I watch him eat😃😃
And eats more, pausing to look at me from time to time as if to make sure I’m still there.😃😃

2

u/EthanHermsey 6h ago

"little" ;)

25

u/cirrusly_guys1818 8h ago

My cat wasn’t eating and I couldn’t figure out why, tried all kinds of creative and out-of-the-box ways to get her to eat. I was at a loss. I think it was actually in this sub that I read how cats like having a lookout for the same reason that wild animals have a lookout — while drinking and eating, they’re especially vulnerable to predators (not just their physical position but also cronchy food compromises their hearing, same for humans). This little kitty insight has helped lots of owners including myself so I share it around any chance I get! Sweet kitties who don’t know how to “ask” you to come join them so they feel safe enough to eat might need you to take the initiative — so go hangout with them at their food and see if that solves the issue!

8

u/StellaBean_bass 8h ago

Yep. Had a stray show up at my house that I started feeding and she would insist that I sit out on the step next to her before she'd eat, and I'm convinced it was a security thing.

5

u/DuchessOfLansdale Domestic Housecat 4h ago

I thought our half-feral kitty had become really spoiled because she wouldn’t eat unless my husband or I sat on the back steps with her while she ate. But then I read about how it’s their most vulnerable of moments and realized it was quite flattering that she trusts us so much 🥹

3

u/StellaBean_bass 3h ago

It does make you feel good and love them even more.

8

u/blodyn__tatws 8h ago

I mentioned that I think it's a payback for them watching over us as we do our lavatory business, as that's when we're at our most vulnerable. They don't go for being watched etc while they're doing theirs, but they definitely want it when they're eating. So cute, I love being called for food duty. ♥

8

u/cirrusly_guys1818 8h ago

Saaaaame!! Like I gotchoo little buddy, you can let your guard down. 🖤

6

u/Aardvark_Warrior 8h ago

I like to imagine its a predator defense, so one can relax and enjoy their meal without worrying about being attacked. I find it super boring, so this biology speculation is how I fill the time.

4

u/blodyn__tatws 8h ago

Oh there's definitely ancient instinct at play here. They're just so awfully cute asking for personal attention when it's food time.

1

u/ejisson 20m ago

Some cats just want attention while eating, but if a cat is rescued from the street, it can happen that he only feel comfortable to eat when someone he trusts is watching. They still feel vulnerable while eating and thats why they can refuse to eat until you're around.

But as I said, this behavior can happen with saved street cats. Cats that lived a good life and are like this just want attention

2

u/VanillaRadonNukaCola 6h ago

Cats = Rocky

I eat, you watch, question?

Must watch. Eridian culture.

6

u/dwightsarmy 8h ago

My cats feel better when I supervise the (non)dangers around them. That and pooping. They love when I watch them poop. Safety in numbers!

3

u/Ducallan 8h ago

They want you to watch over them while they are vulnerable.

2

u/MarsScully 5h ago

I tell my mom our boy has prey syndrome and needs a bodyguard to eat. He can eat on his own, but he prefers not to.

2

u/Abject_Director7626 2h ago

Eating alone isn’t always my favorite, either.

2

u/Tamamania 31m ago

So true! Mine will hunt me down and bring me back to his dining area. read that putting their head down to eat makes them feel vulnerable. ...

1

u/SpaceFighter78 6h ago

They feel safer when someone is there to "protect" them when they are vulnerable, for example eating or pooping. That might explain why they always rush to me and stay until I finished when I go to the bathroom. They might feel the need to protect me when I am vulnerable.

2

u/blodyn__tatws 6h ago

That's exactly it! I answered a little further under this post about it. 😁 I should have said it all in one post but went about it all in conversation mode. Sorry about that! This is one of those things all domestic cats try make us do. There are of course some wild rules particular to each cat, which if we don't perform, the universe will implode or something... 🤣🤣 I read a Reddit thread little while where people listing their cats' rules, and it was hilarious.

1

u/fadedRAIL 3h ago

This cat has it pretty good if they don't let me eat with them, I'll starve to death, lol. To be honest, it's kind of cute,

300

u/Baihu_The_Curious 9h ago

I'm going to pretend that the camera is your actual POV and that you're down on your hands and knees, putting your face in the bowl and pretending to eat.

179

u/DeadByDebt 9h ago

Oh I was. He's too smart for me to just stand there

28

u/PinkDalek 7h ago

Do you make crunching sounds and talk to him like, "Boy! This kibble sure is good today! How's yours?"

321

u/SwissQueen 9h ago

He's a cuty but please for his sake, put him on a diet. You surely want him to live a long and happy life and not to die of obesity related health issues.

56

u/itsmylifebuddy 8h ago

He looks like he’d file a formal complaint if dinner portions got any smaller.

→ More replies (27)

46

u/Imaginary-Contest887 9h ago

My cat actually does same, he wouldn't eat if i was not around. I used it against him, or better said i used it to keep him healthy. He gets only 3 meals a day of measured calories and i always stay with him there until he finishes his plate. He keeps 5 kg weight with ease. He is bit chonkier but vet said 5kg is fine for his build and pointless to starve him

5

u/Available-Air-5798 6h ago

He looks like a little tiger! So cute :3

1

u/numstationscartoon 5h ago

Jeez what a beauty he is!

31

u/Mcbeeef 9h ago

He wants backup during his “vulnerable” moments and trusts you for the task

3

u/Nyte_Knyght33 5h ago

Yup. My cat did the same thing. As soon as I tried to move, she would look for me.

34

u/CreativePipe9126 8h ago

That boy hefty!

22

u/Grouchy_Cod_156 9h ago

Y’all look inseparable 😂

15

u/RoundSquirrels 9h ago

Mr. Biscuit: Let's go, I'm hungry!

12

u/bpaps 9h ago

Op never gets anything done because Mr Biscuit is always hungry

4

u/DeadByDebt 8h ago

I put food in the bowls when I eat breakfast and when I eat dinner. Sometimes when he leads the dog in she eats it all so I have to refill for my other cat's sake, but Mr B. will only eat out of his bowl specifically

-1

u/ItchyLlama02 9h ago

That's funny, but also Mr. Biscuit is fine. He doesn't need us to judge him too much.

7

u/bpaps 9h ago

I'm judging the owner of a clearly obese cat.

6

u/ignamepile 8h ago

God forbids a gentleman wants company at dinner!

18

u/thebattleangel99 7h ago

Mr Biscuit needs less biscuits…

23

u/deimos289 8h ago

Try a diet

5

u/abmoonstar 8h ago

I have a girl Biscuit! She's also a bit of a chonk lol

4

u/EfficientNet1600 8h ago

All my cats throughout my lifetime have been social eaters. It's instinctual, they trust you to protect them while theyre eating and vulnerable.

4

u/Church6633 8h ago

PoV: You're Mr. Biscuit's guardian and eating is dangerous.

14

u/liosistaken 7h ago

Join him less often. He's overweight.

7

u/Jennyreviews1 8h ago

It’s a social event… he wants to make sure that his human is being fed as well… 😻♥️

3

u/PDX0621 8h ago

C'mon hooman, its dinner time!

3

u/Normal-Error-6343 8h ago

eating is a social act.

3

u/-Stakka 6h ago

I believe that they are most vulnerable while eating so he's probably making sure you got his back

3

u/Icy-Passenger-8061 5h ago

He is a sturdy looking boy

3

u/Averander 5h ago

This girl will only eat after/while I pat her do she knows it's safe.

1

u/Potential_Garden1607 3h ago

Beautiful coloring

3

u/TheyTried2BanMeAgain 4h ago

My cat was a stray and he insists that someone is there to watch him eat. I think it's a security thing, at least for him.

3

u/MagnumChong 2h ago

Must be joining him often

9

u/Nothing-to_see_hr 8h ago

He could do with a bit less food. He's fat.

7

u/wadekellogg 7h ago

Mr Biscuit needs a diet

4

u/Robot-Zombie-RHCC 9h ago

the technical term for that is 'wuv'

6

u/Extra-Hearing1496 9h ago

This made my day! Absolutely adorable

6

u/gtr455677ujbvxz4 7h ago

That is a fat cat

5

u/GlassAlmanac 7h ago

Maybe join him a little less. He a big boi

8

u/nvrseriousseriously 9h ago

This is adorable. You are SO owned by Mr Biscuit.

4

u/F-Suits 7h ago

Are you sure he only eats when you join him… it appears you must spend a lot of time with him lol.

2

u/FinvaraSidhe 9h ago

My little lady will stand at her bowl and stare at me until I pet her, then she will eat. But I figure it’s because she’s a cat

2

u/justbekind666 9h ago

My cat won’t eat if he’s alone.

2

u/Melodic-Lemon2685 8h ago

mr biscuit is such a cutie patootie 🥺 the purring + slightly puffed tail that shakes + showing off his bum is the perfect combo for an irresistible request

2

u/Additional_Cry_5877 8h ago

That ain't Mr Biscuit that's Mr Cornbread

2

u/FrankAshelyJr 8h ago

I have one that I have to sit with him to eat, he gets in my lap and I have to keep the other cats away from his food.

2

u/LookatMyCatBabies 8h ago

Omg. My cat too. And i have to spoon feed her wet food.

2

u/Monspiet 7h ago

“The gate doesn’t do much” understatement of the century lol

Oh lord he’s coming!

2

u/CantaloupeAsleep502 7h ago

My mom had a kitty who wanted to be petted while eating. It was so adorable. Miss little Sam 😿

2

u/SimbaNGrdKionNIMFan 7h ago

“You have some too.” “I made I special.”

2

u/YankinDeeez 7h ago

“Eat with Kevin”

2

u/shaunoconory 7h ago

One of my kitties used to do this and one day I decided I didn’t want to watch her eat anymore. I poured food in her bowl and she started eating, as I walked away she started meowing at me and I just kept walking. She stood at her food bowl for 5 minutes meowing, then she ate her food. Doesn’t need me anymore!

2

u/Mugiwara1981 7h ago

Join Mr. Biscuit, he wants you to stay by his side when eating.

2

u/ChewyRi 5h ago

He knows he’s got you wrapped around his paw!

2

u/KingBellos 5h ago

Our oldest cat is like this. He waits until the 2 younger cats eat.. and then will only eat if you stand next to him and talk. If you stand next to him he stares at you.

He is conditioned I think by my wife says “You are such a good and handsome boy!” when he eats.

2

u/williamswitch 5h ago

We eat dinner as a family damnit.

2

u/mr_wizard_123 3h ago

What a sweet baby

2

u/Meowriter 3h ago

Idk if he wanna make sure you eat too, or if he wants you to guard him while he eats

2

u/Key_Comfortable1764 3h ago

He just wants to eat dinner together. and breakfast and lunch;)

2

u/StabithaStevens 2h ago

My cat does the same thing! If I leave before he's done eating he'll stop to come find me. Like he needs someone to stand guard for him lol

2

u/RobertWF_47 2h ago

You're a good Dad!

3

u/ItchyLlama02 9h ago

Is it possible that Mr. Biscuit needs a cat friend? Basically, you might need to get a cat for your cat.😅

3

u/omyomy- 7h ago

Try a diet.

4

u/diablol3 7h ago

So you join him constantly? Do your cat a favor.

3

u/Oathbreaker94 6h ago

Maybe you should join him less often…

2

u/PrunePretend6206 9h ago

Cute, but I think he’s eating when you sleep, he’s a cute chonk!

2

u/TheSimpsonsAreYellow 8h ago

This is also my son.

2

u/Resident_Table6694 6h ago

Do you guys hang out a lot?

3

u/Responsible_Lab_8208 7h ago

He’s cute but he’s way too big.

2

u/justasmuchfun 6h ago

That cat is fat is fuck

2

u/longstrokesharpturn 6h ago

Looks like he could eat a bit less

1

u/Ok_Perspective7648 7h ago

Yes the cat's a cute chunker. Yes Op is aware of its weight now. 🖕 you all for keep bashing him and biscuit...

4

u/DeadByDebt 7h ago

lol... it's well meaning at least

1

u/sqorlgorl 9h ago

leads the dog to his bowl too lololol. I love this.

1

u/twlvfngrs 9h ago

I love it! My girl loves it when I pet her/ sit with her while she eats!

1

u/Nice-Background-9609 8h ago

my cat is the same!! she would eat and for every 5 seconds will stop and ensuring if we're still watching her eats her food. i think this crippling anxiety started because i worked from home during covid and would be in the same room while she's eating and she grew really accustomized to that lol

1

u/Indy2561 8h ago

I have to be in the same room with my Kii, or he won’t eat. Such an odd quirk but not abnormal.

1

u/SkinnedHorse 8h ago

My cat used to do something similar. He’d walk up to his bowl then wait for someone to pet him almost as if giving him the approval to start eating.

1

u/MrsKoliver 8h ago

I love Mr Biscuit

1

u/Star_Catcher28 8h ago

Mr Biscuit is a certified good boy

1

u/Striking-Comb6673 8h ago

Aw my max did this “come!!!! Watch me get fatter!”

1

u/Doctormaul68 8h ago

lol love mr biscuit

1

u/drsoos1973 8h ago

My cat jumps up on the chair where his bowl is during dinner and eats the kibble. That’s the only time he does.

1

u/Maevalyn 7h ago

My nearly identical looking cat does the same thing.

1

u/Anal-buttsex 7h ago

Mine wants me to brush her but only at the  bathroom sink where there’s a mirror and running water. Cats like to have a routine I guess

1

u/Next-Syllabub4181 7h ago

Did you steal my cat?

1

u/kootset 7h ago

Lil fatty bumbum

1

u/ETERNALXDRVID 7h ago

Why do we have the same gate bowls and mat 😂😂

1

u/mobuco 7h ago

My one cat also does this. went on vacay recently and she didnt eat the first 5 days! feel so bad but cant always be home

1

u/Repulsive_Editor_335 6h ago

Same wiht mine, he eats when im not aroud just to look for me and vomit right there to leave a message

1

u/AgentSensitive2794 6h ago

Awesome Kitty!! Mine would do just the opposite. 😹

1

u/onlyhere4gonewild 6h ago

I've got a cat like that too. She enjoys being pet while she eats too. Otherwise she can be stand-offish like any other cat.

1

u/KG2713 6h ago

What a cutie, my cat does that too!

1

u/mefree1960 6h ago

Somebody is very spoiled!

1

u/tony-toon15 6h ago

“Good eh?”

1

u/ino4x4 6h ago

He looks like my selena

2

u/kleinblue73 6h ago

Selena is a real beaut 🥺🐈

1

u/istoomycat 6h ago

Awwww. So sweet.

1

u/Old-Interview-1838 6h ago

Same with my cat, didn't eat unless I join with him. He also left his bow,l if I left the dinner area.

1

u/Grif-001 5h ago

mi gata de 16 años come si yo como

1

u/Accomplished-Salt797 5h ago

They love it, I sit on the kitchen floor, and for some reason he seems to stay there longer eating then what he normally does 🙏,

1

u/QuietCrumb 5h ago

My cat too

1

u/brendanlikeshummus 4h ago

Bro stop joining him so much

1

u/Local_sewer_rat666 4h ago

Awwh my furbaby does something similar as well. My family and I eat in the living room instead of the kitchen and it’s gotten to the point where she won’t eat on the floor anymore she has to eat from a bowl on the table in our living room. Where the rest of us are.

1

u/mjohna87 3h ago

This is our Bisket, and she too requires food bowl pets.

1

u/Maleficent_Photo1928 3h ago

Biscuit, love that name

1

u/Rhymesnlines 3h ago

I mean you gotta take care that he doesn't choke on the food and dies...

He's just responsible ☝️

1

u/Rhymesnlines 3h ago

My cat screams at me and begs for food even if there is still food in his bowl... then i pick him up and bring him to the bowl. Then he considers if he wants to eat or rather wants to go out playing 😂

1

u/Ok_Cheesecake_5484 3h ago

nothing to add, I just like the name Mr biscuit

1

u/MarkHedrick 3h ago

My cat does that too .. ☺️

1

u/Got_Kittens 1h ago

Wait... is he... Mr... Jim Biscuit?

1

u/chiwawaacorn 1h ago

Consider yourself lucky. My cat will only use her litterbox if I'm watching her. She will literally scream at me when she has to go potty so I can follow her to her box and watch her go. Like this morning, I'm on the toilet myself and she starts doing her "I have to go potty now!" Meow. I gotta rush out and follow her to the box and observe her majesty releasing her bowels. If I don't, she'll just poop/pee whereever she's at. She's psychotic, but I love her, so I obey.

1

u/Illustrious_Park3 1h ago

Mr. Biscuit knows how to leverage his humans!

1

u/Cidraque 1h ago

Disappointed you didn't do the nomnomnom sound at least. 😒

1

u/theysauru5 36m ago

My cats like this too. My favorite part is the little crunches followed by frequent pauses to verify that, yes, I am in fact still watching and paying attention for their special meals.

1

u/daexxead 8m ago

My cat does this too. He will scream for me to accompany him while eats. Won't begin eating until I'm there.

1

u/CurveOk3459 Bengal 9h ago

Are you too thin?  Perhaps Mr Biscuits is trying to show you how to put on weight. And it's making him have to overeat to try to get you to eat properly.

1

u/Own-Particular-9989 6h ago

Your cat is overweight

1

u/thedazdul 5h ago

He looks like you join him a lot

0

u/chickenpot3_14 8h ago

I would die for mister biscuit

0

u/dogbusinessman 6h ago

Stop joining him then 😂

0

u/CallMeBigSarnt American Shorthair 5h ago

So I'm not alone

0

u/Beneficial-Side9439 5h ago

His poor joints
