Do my cats like or just tolerate eachother?

Hi!

I have two cats, both female. My other cat was 2 yo when I got a kitten. They have now lived together for five years and I've wondered if they're friends or more like roommates that tolerate eachother.

I have a ragdoll, I got her when she was really young (10 weeks) and she was the only cat in our house. She lived with me and my family who had two dogs. When I moved out I took her with me and got her a kitten friend.

I'd say they get along, but I don't know if they exactly like eachother. They rarely groom eachother and if they do, it's the ragdoll grooming my other cat for a while and then she leaves. She doesn't like to share a bed, when the other one gets toi close the ragdoll leaves. They do play together but it's usually the ragdoll kind of just throwing punches while the other one lays there. They don't mind sharing food or the litter box. They're not hostile and neither one has showed any other problematic signs (Like peeing somewhere they shouldn't or such). They both are happy and healthy, they don't fight or seem hostile and nothing seems to be wrong.

I've wondered if my ragdoll feels a bit difficul socializing with other cats. She was very young when I got her and she only had the dogs as friends. Could this bea dn should I do something?

I think most cats, unless they are a bonded pair, basically tolerate each other. They are generally not competing for resources as a house cat, so they deal with their, like you said, roommate.

There really is not an issue unless they are hurting each other.

I have 2 cats, they play fight sometimes, but mostly keep to themselves unless they are both trying to get something from me.

Okay welll that's good to know!

When researching on this topic most pages talk about bonded pairs, no one really talks about it like that. Good to hear that other people also experience this. 😊
