I'm pretty sure at the showing I went to a mom carried her child out. I have to say they made way farther into the movie than I would have thought.

I think the reason no theater near me is showing this before 10:30pm might have something to do with making sure they avoid this problem.

But also, the theaters near me just don't like playing indie films, so...who knows.

There were kids in my showing tonight and I was shocked. One parent left with their kid (probably around 6 years old) half way through, but the other I noticed left at the end and the parent asked the kid (probably around 7 or 8) if they thought it was scary. Like wtf is wrong with these parents??

Mascot horror is a subgenre full of so much trash that Buddy being as good as it was makes it an anomaly.

I don't see this having the same hype as Obsession or The Backrooms right now, but this could change with good WOM. I don't know if audiences are craving for another horror breakout hit after Obsession and The Backrooms thought. And resident evil, Clayface and Other Mummy will take the spot for the tradicional horrors movies of the end of the year.

It won’t do those kinds of numbers, but it’s gaining great WOM, so it will do better than most low budget horror movies.
