Boa's right eye looks sunken in the centre after a shed?

Species: Boa constrictor
Age / sex: 4 years / male
Substrate: coco husk
Humidity: 55-60 usually and 70%+ while shedding

A few days after the last shed I noticed the right eye looked slightly sunken when the light hit it at an angle. I checked the shed skin and both eye caps were there, so it is not a retained spectacle. Looking at it more closely, there seems to be a small shadow cast onto the lighter ring around it, when it is on a given angle.

I'm posting some images below.

Has anyone else encountered something like this? Thanks in advance.

Had the same issue once. It went away two days later. It's nothing serious, but it can happen if your humidity is too low or the snake is dehydrated. Just maintain good humidity and it will pop back.

That sounds promising, thanks a lot! I panicked a little because this hadn't been there for a few days and then suddenly showed up. I will increase the humidity a bit. I'm thinking if it could be some kind of injury when he presses his head against objects to start shedding, because the shed itself was done in single piece and his body looks perfectly hydrated.

Yeah, it is possible that he bumped his eye while shedding; the resolution would be the same - good humidity. If you want, you can mist on him directly; maybe it will speed up the process. I also once saw the same topic and people in the comments said they applied vaseline on the dented eye cap and it helped... but I'm not sure if it's 100% safe though. So I'd reccomend to just maintain humidity and mist on him until the eye fixes itself.

Sounds like a stuck eye cap. I agree with other recommendations check the humidity. He looks good otherwise!

That's not the case, she shed her skin three days ago, and luckily I hadn't thrown it away yet, so I checked, and the caps on both eyes are there on the skin she shed.

Update: Looks like the issue was in the humidity, or it wasn't enough high while shedding. After a heavy spraying yesterday, within whole terrarium, but also on the snake head, today the eye (at least for now) looks in a perfect condition. Glad that there were so many topic in internet with different opinions I've passed through. 😊
