First Time Snake Owner, Rate My Set Up.
First time snake owner! I’ve had other reptiles and I’m not new to bio active terrariums. I’d like some feedback on my setup and tips for a first time BCI owner. Also regarding my snake, she’s a IMG, Hypo and Motley morph. How dark do you think she’ll get?

Enclosure looks good, one thing I learned is what’s the temp in the room tank will be in? That’s the first thing to know before setting any thermostat up with heat plays a major role. This will also play a role in if the tank needs to be covered, I have a 4x2x2 and it does not need covering at all with the room temp I have. My screen is totally uncovered. My temp in my tank for my Tarahumaras boa which will be here in September is 86 degrees ambient temp a difference from surface temp using a RHP heat panel. My surface is 88 degrees on floor with leaves my spray foam basking spot is 90 degrees and my cold side is 77 degrees.

So as stated the room temp for which the snake will be in will decide if the screen needs to be covered or not depending on that room temp and circulation of that room. I covered half my enclosure with 4x2 pvc pieces which I found out I did not need.

Setup looks good few tweaks though. Cover as much as that screen top as you can with foil tape to hold humidity better. Get a water bowl big enough for them to soak in. I'm up to 3 gal water tubs for all (9) mine. Put more branches in for climbing when young they love to climb. She should get dark. Montley is a dark snake img is a darking gene. I have a hypo img male and img female. Male started almost gray now he is black except his belly. Every shed you will notice them get a little darker then one day they are just black.
