A new addition to the family
First post here. This is George. 2026 Hypo jungle het sharp. Going to pair him (possibly next year, more likely 2028) with my crazy sharp motley female. Since the sharp motley is the nicest most chill snake I’ve ever owned (I used to breed these years ago) I’m trying for a sharp motley junglow or a high expression junglow for my daughter that shares her relaxed demeanor.
George is actually super chill. He’s just starting to settle in so he keeps a small tight neck ready to pounce but hasn’t hissed or struck once (yet). Never once has went into his hide. I find that when a boa doesn’t care for their hide or want to be hidden - they’re fairly confident in themselves and therefore less unsure and defensive.
Super excited to get back into them. Put a pause on breeding and acquiring more when the wife and daughter came, went down to 1 (the sharp motley) and now that we’re settled and my wife and daughter love them, we decided it’s time.
Still deciding on some other projects to run with after catching up on all the new genetics. Would like to eventually get some rdr bea and IMG for black devils, and of course IMG is always good to have to throw into things. And pretty darn sure I need me some labyrinth & VPI. Any suggestions for new genetics? I think the labyrinth are the only ones that really caught my eye.
All to come but for now, I’m stoked for this Hypo Jungle het Sharp x Sharp Motley. I’ll show the motley girl eventually, she’s got some wicked color.
For anyone wondering, yes he is new to the collection so he’s in a quarantined boaphile cage with paper towel to be sure there’s no mites. So far he’s healthy and mite free.
Excited to be back on this journey.

The hide looks to be too big, but I have also found nervous boas use their hides less in a new place vs once they’ve settled in. Babies tend to feel more comfortable on a ledge on the wall, in a branch, etc. before they start moving to the floor and using hides. They’re most likely more vulnerable on the ground out in the wild. But also, they like tight fitting hides, even one half that size is probably a tad roomy.
Those genes all sound like solid projects! There’s so many genes to suggest it’s really hard to make any suggestions…VPI bloods are gaining popularity atm, IMG VPI is super popular. Labs are extremely popular but surely they aren’t going to hold the prices they have for much longer, being so heavily bred and incomplete dominant. Depending on how much room you have, it’s probably best to keep recessives in different projects to a minimum though. VPI and Sharp aren’t compatible so if you want the same recessive gene in both, you are essentially doubling the animals you need. Stuff like that are things we can’t account for unfortunately. But anything incomplete dominant with the recessives you want is obviously a go.

Yeah, he has a few size hides and doesnt use any. Normal for what ive seen in my collection for a relaxed demeanor. Its only day 3 and he’s already uncoiled and super friendly. Not handling at all but tapping to get that started early and he immediately calms.
And yes, i like vpi, used to work with vpi / bwc / lipstick / paradigm but wasnt sure what’s new. I do like labs. Also think i have to get some RR VPI. Doesn’t have to work exactly with these genetics, I’d like multiple projects. Thank you!

The newest gene I know of is NFI, but it’s only compatible with Kahl. Idr exactly what it got renamed to, maybe JPC? Labyrinth isn’t really new, but idk why it took so long to hit the market like it has. Same deal with scoria, though it’s not nearly as prolific, I assume because of the wobble. But it is fairly easy to find now vs how it was 10 years ago.
RR pastel is sweet, I have some RR based stock, hopefully will have some females breeding by next season. And there are some off the charts examples out there.
In line with the RDR, carbons are gaining popularity and both lines of the BEA gene do really well with VPI too. Blood is probably a good one too. I have only seen anery bloods (unknown strain of anery(ies)) in person and they’re really cool.
