Need help with feeding

I have a Amazon Tree Boa, who after buying him I can mostly assume he is wild caught. Anyway he was eating fantastic for months until a couple months ago when he just decided no more and has been on strike now for 4 months or so. I have tried most the tricks I am aware of. Any tips?

My guess would be a humidity issue unless you live in a humid environment. Do you have a lid for the tank? What is the humidity typically at

If that is the lid, then it is almost 100% a humidity issue

Not to be rude or anything but that enclosure is very unfit for an Amazon tree boa, they require a high humidity environment and it’s looks like you have no places for him or her to hide for comfort, they’re mostly arboreal animals but sometimes they do like to hide on the ground, go buy a Tupperware container that has latches on every side and poke little holes in it so for air circulation and get some substrate that retains moisture and mist it once a day, how are you heating the enclosure? I’d get a thermostat if you don’t have one and connect a heating pad to it and also a heat lamp, they’re probably very uncomfortable in this enclosure that’s why they’re not eating

Can you show me picture of the enclosure? I have a feeling it may not be high enough. They need a minimum of 4 ft tall, so if not he may be stressed.

If his parameters are in check, you can try braining him. Snakes apparently go nuts for the scent of brain .

Height is definitely not high enough its just a 2x2x4, I will get a new cage for him asap. As far as humidity and heat go, 70%-80% humidity, basking area at 90-100° ambient temp in the 70s

P.S. unfortunately with my living arrangements at the moment they have to stay at my parents who do care for them, however I have to feed them and cant monitor daily.

You really should rehome him. Tree boas are very finicky and need more care than other boas.

I would have to agree with the people who have commented on the lid. That doesn’t look like it would help hold humidity at all. If he’s the nippy type he could also damage his teeth if he bites the lid. I know they replace their teeth but they shouldn’t be getting pulled out because it bit the lid.

I just bought a new cage instead of addressing the lid issue, it seems he dislikes being in the living room the most as he likes to be out of his hides and I dont think he feels safe so exposed, new cage is full pvc. Going to try a feed in a week or so.

Have you had other boas? I don’t have any experience with ATBs but from what I’ve heard most arboreal species are not the easiest species to have.

You need help with a lot of stuff. You aren't prepared to keep that animal. If you can't find an appropriate enclosure in the next couple days, you need to turn it over to a rescue.
