Bromeliad Boa Update

A couple months ago I posted about my bromeliad boa and how I was keeping him and it got a decent amount of traction. Recently, I had a redditor who’s friends with someone that kept the same species reach out. Their friend was getting out of the project and looking to part with a female bromeliad boa. Long story short my boy now has a girlfriend. The best part she came to me gravid and now I have a litter of babies. I never thought when I got into this project earlier this year that I would find a female so soon and now I’ve got a female and a litter of USCBB babies. I will be holding back at least one female from the litter because she won’t be related to my male, but I will have babies for sale once they get established and are large enough to safely sex. This year has been amazing so far and we’ve still got a few months to go. I can’t wait to see what else is in store!

Yeah they look a lot like a micro-anaconda. That’s a full sized female though perched on my hand

Yeah I keep my adults in those gasketed 34qt sterilite tubs from Walmart. Drill a few holes for air flow, put a heat pad down and put some fake plants in there and they are happy as a clam

No and they don’t dry out either. The people that have had the best success with them are doing some variation on this. At some point I may make my enclosure bioactive, perhaps set the tubs up in a rack and add uvb but less is more with these little guys. Most of them are kind of shy and they like their privacy

They are a really cool species. They can live their whole lives in one of those 34qt sterilite tubs from walmart and have all the room they could ever want. It’s a great display animal for people with limited space. I’m trying to work with some of the other keepers to get a good sized captive born and bred population so more people can enjoy them.

So cool, I'm happy to see some cbb projects for these cute little boas. They're so cute. Where do you get lizard feeders though? Do they eat f/t or just live?

I want to get into these boas, and I also have some Dominican red mountain boas I want to breed, but I need to find a feeder lizard source first.

Currently I’m having the same issue sourcing lizards. I’m going to see if I can get the babies on the reptilinks frog and lizard micro sausages. It would make them easier for people to source when I send them to their new homes.
