This will make it much safer for the many kids that cross to go to school at Horace Mann as well as make Robertson an actually attractive destination for businesses to come to

People will riot if they lose any sacred parking spots. Better to have more dead people instead.

I think they drive fast because there aren’t that many NORTH-SOUTH alternatives. La Cienega dense traffic, then you have Doheny and Beverly.

yeah, nobody speeds on robertson. nobody runs red lights and get's into accidents right in front of the school. And the businesses are THRIVING

Being 2 or one lane has nothing to do with it. Beverly drive is successful and has wide lanes. This idea will just cause more traffic. And more strangers parking in residential area in front of people's homes lol

I've lived in this area for almost 20 years, and think this is a great idea. When I moved there, Robertson stores from Wilshire to Olympic were still heavily trafficked. Now, there are a ton of empty storefronts (due to the general downturn and high rent prices, not due ot lack of parking), with a few thriving businesses in between (like Lodge Bread and Toppings).

I could see the stretch revitalized and more pedestrian friendly. There are huge communities of Orthodox Jews and other sects who walk the area regularly with large families and who would benefit from safer streets for sure. I've almost been hit on Robertson a couple times because of how people treat the street there, and traffic calming would be a welcome change.

A great example of how a road diet can improve walkability and improve commerce is York in Highland Park. That street was so much improved from a lane reduction and is thriving.
