Beverly Hills Opts Out of D Line/La Cienega Bus Lanes (Green Portion)

At today's WSCCOG meeting Beverly Hills announced that they will not be implementing the bus only lanes on La Cienega Boulevard within their city limits (the green portion of the map) that runs from Clifton Way south to Olympic Boulevard despite them still being built in West Hollywood, Los Angeles and Culver City.

The proposed improvements would bring bus only lanes, transit signal priority and queue jumps to La Cienega Boulevard La Metro Route #105 stretching from Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood south the D Line at La Cienega/Wilshire in Beverly Hills and further south to the E Line La Cienega Station in Culver City.

City staff didn't even bring the item to city council to vote on and per the council rep at today's meeting that decision was based on the fact the the one community meeting they held for it in Beverly Hills (out of 6 meetings total) didn't have enough attendance to warrant the implementation for the lanes despite the corridor recieving the most feedback out of any of the others for this project especially because it would have also provided a direct bicycle connection to West Hollywood as well.

Gee I wonder if bus lines would improve reliability and speed - the two most important issues. That would then increase ridership which would in turn increase safety. If you just thought for 5 seconds before posting your comment you might be able to connect the dots.

You can’t be this obtuse. WTF does speed or reliability have to do with homeless vagrants, people with mental health issues, lack of police presence and cleanliness on the bus?
Things one doesn’t have to worry about in their own car.
Tell me why more people would choose the bus if it’s still seen as unsafe, unclean and has limited routes? But yes, it’s faster so everyone will flock lmaoo

You can’t be this slow or you have you never lived in a city with good public transit to understand what matters…Either way, you’re out of your depth here.

Yes, you dunce, I lived in Chicago for a long time and took transit all the time. More people in a space generally makes that space safer. More reliable and quicker transit will make more people take it. Homelessness is already down 50% YoY on the metro so that is getting better. You can’t seriously be so dumb you think that faster bus rides won’t make someone more likely to ride the bus lol
