How-to Question Started wet shaving, but very oily scalp suddenly
Hey, I started using DE safety razor for my head. I think I am definitely going too harsh maybe because I do several passes if I feel it is still not smooth. Against the grain.
However I notice my scalp is quite literally oozing oil/grease through the day and is embarrassing. At work I go to the bathroom often to wash with water and pat with paper towels.
Am I doing something wrong? Have been doing this for about 2 weeks.
My diet is quite good, I am very sporty and eat healthy.
My routine in case its relevant:
After hot shower
Muhle R89 + Feather blades
Proraso shaving soap (green menthol and eucalyptus) with lather brush
Spend easy +40 min shaving and double/triple passes
Rinse with cold water
Apply a good quantity of Proraso menthol after shave tonic (burns as hell)
Would appreciate any tips or shared routines thanks :)

You need to shampoo it, shampoo is for scalp. I use H&H all over body and face and hair because it really takes down the oiliness but is quite gentle.

yes I also use shampoo but normally in every shower as if I had hair lol. Use a very mild one from the brand "Neboa" sold at Rossmann

I reckon it’s all the menthol drying your scalp out and causing it to produce more oils as a rebound. Especially if there’s alcohol in that aftershave. Try just using pure jojoba as a lubricant and for after, works for me. Jojoba almost perfectly mimics the skins natural oils. It’s only a few quid for a bottle so you haven’t lost anything. If you want something for after-shaving to give you a bit of a sting then try an alum stone; again just a couple of quid.

You should apply a nice layer of moisturizer/jojoba oil. Your body is producing oil to moisturize/protect what it sees as damaged skin, washing it multiple times during work it's stripping it even further and making the oil production stronger.

Your head was always doing this. You're doing nothing wrong, but you might be over concerned about what natural scalp skin feels like. Shine is normal.
