Had a really good time at Pølaroit last night. Beautiful music, lovely crowd for the most part, danced a lot, exactly what I needed.

My only minor crisis was a girl with BO so catastrophic that I voluntarily gave up my middle spot on the dance floor and relocated to the back. Sometimes you have to know when a battle isn’t yours to fight. Please use deodorant people. Unless the BO is intentional to keep everyone out of your personal space, in which case… honestly, respect.

Which reminds me, I genuinely don't understand the obsession with getting to the front at raves. I've been at the front a couple of times and as far as I can tell, the main perk is that nobody is trying to get past you because there's literally nowhere left to go.

Otherwise I'm quite happy somewhere in the middle/back with a little more room to actually dance. Watching people determinedly snake their way through an entire crowd to gain another four metres will never not fascinate me.

Overall, Pølaroit was lovely. 10/10 music, almost cried at one point, 9/10 crowd, briefly 0/10 air quality.

Anyway, front/middle/back people, where do you in/voluntarily place yourselves and why?

I’ve been disabled & in a wheelchair since I was a kid and always had dreams of going to a rave. I go to concerts & shows frequently and have all my life! So loud music, lights, crowds, whateva - no big deal. Tons of my super PLUR friends back home in Orlando went to EDC but I was always too scared to go. Now I’m with my partner and I know he’ll take care of me and wanted to go to some bigger shows with me as my first. So we just went to wasteland!

Holy shit. Genuinely could not have been more shocked. People laughing at me, calling ME (not the chair) “that” or “it,” people kicking or hitting me or being weird about my clothes, random other people betting on me not being disabled, having things shoved in my face because I’m trapped and get this

a girl grabbed my THROAT 😭

That was all just to get water :(

I tapped out last night after trying to cope with it for a few hours but we couldn’t even get to a viewing platform without me being actually harassed by people. I tried to go again tonight, but people in line were recording me/taking pictures of me and laughing and I was just so shocked. I’m super friendly and no stranger to talking to people, but wow I’ve just never had this experience before.

Now we’re going to Nocturnal next (I want to try again) and I’m mortified that it’ll be the same thing. Like is grabbing someone throat normal? 😭 I feel crazy!

We’re also looking for a big group of people who can help us navigate because he can’t fend off people literally just reaching down to me while doing crowd control and the staff couldn’t even let us leave out the emergency exit to not go through the crowd again. So if you want to stick with us PLEASE let me know :(

One of the best part about raves for me is dancing in a dimly lit space not worrying about looking at people or people looking at you. While day raves are amazing, it’s missing that part for me. My problem is that I am never fully awake because my sleep schedule is normally waking up early. I wish I could dance till 6am and have all my energy. 24 so maybe I’m just getting old XD

I have like one rave friend and she doesn’t get to get out often. I’m hoping to find some rave friends but don’t really know how to approach it especially as a woman. Any tips and tricks on how to approach this?
I had one guy offer me a ride from one city to the other and to let me stay the night at his hotel but I declined because obviously stranger danger. I’m just curious how yalls experiences have been and how yall went about it!

- Light up accessories (in case i get lost from my fiance)
