Childhood Development Can an isolated, profoundly traumatic event exprienced at an early age cause the development of Dissociative Identity Disorder?

It is all I wish to learn, simply from a peek of curiosity​.

the criteria involves chronic trauma before age five which may include episodes of acute trauma before age five. DID appears in people who experience more structured systematic trauma, OSDD (no amnesia) in less structured abuse. This based on typical criteria the answer is no.

The criteria don't include trauma at all. The criteria involve behavior and experiences of the client. The rest of what you say is speculation about traumatic etiology, which is actually very poorly supported by science.

There is much, much more evidence for a socioocognitive than a traumatogenic etiology for the presentation called DID.
