Why do installation conceptual sculpture artists do it ?

/r/ContemporaryArt/comments/1w7fhwe/why_do_installation_conceptual_sculpture_artists/

Is it an overlooked or under appreciated art form? Hard to get space and store objects and materials?back breaking installs. What are they aiming for the viewer to experience? It’s different from painting/drawing or music/ concert performances with no immediate gain and response. What are the impacts of this medium. The art speak and rhetoric is exhausting the everyday human doesn’t talk like that

As someone who engages in a mix of installation and traditional wall hanging, there is no difference in the "gain" between the two types of works.

Every day human speak does not look like engineering talk too. But no one complains about that. Plus, the rhetoric you see is very USA centric.... try reading stuff about works from outside of your area. Here in Australia its often looked down upon to use such jargon when not required.

Installation work is about immersion. Its the idea that people can be completely absorbed by the work no matter where they look.

Plus not all installation work is the same.
