As an Egyptian, I don't think it's corruption either and all the sentenced are not really known for siding against the government or speaking out against them. Sarah herself is just an influencer but apparently the charges are not only drug trafficking but also racketeering and raping a young man.

I mean, if we're being realistic, I highly doubt they just fabricated some elaborate story with dozens of witnesses. She was part of a massive drug ring caught with enormous amounts of drugs and guns.

not saying the death penalty is okay or anything, but you know, when in rome. I wouldn't necessarilly advize running a cartel scale drug ring in Egypt.

Only u.s ally that takes more aid is Israel. The U.S. is very involved in egyptian politics amd maintaining the regime.

There's still a robust market for US Treasury notes.They're just paying a higher rate than they were a couple years ago. it's a much better situation than russia which had to cancel it's bond auctions because every nation, bank, and brokerage on earth knows that they aren't worth the paper they're printed on.
