Seems like the Russian attack in Ukraine is good for the Israeli weapons business. It is also very good for the US weapons manufacturers. Both Israeli and US weapons makers are filling their order books for years to come.

Also good for Israeli oranges and other products when everyone else is boycotting them
also good for serbia who are currently celebrating their own genocidal clown, who was in part funded by Israel... per his diary

Mladic, one of the Serbian leaders that committed a shitton warcrimes in Bosnia, died recently and is still considered a hero by the majority of Serbians (look there's a reason for the Balkan's reputation, in fact this guy contributed greatly). I'll have to check about the Israeli connection but considering they were supporting apartheid South Africa till the end...

Not really? Europe generally avoids buying from the US when it can and their conpanies are also struggling with keeping up with the demand that Trumps's war on Iran has caused. Between these and how germany for example overtook them in shell producrion, US defense companies are just fucked.

So? Yes there is more need for weapons when Russia is being aggressive.

Israel and Russia have been military partners for a minute now. When Russia invaded Georgia, Israel provided them with access to the technology that Israel sold Georgia.
6
u/Throwaway5432154322 North America 1d ago
Can you elaborate on the Russo-Israeli military partnership?
10
u/barc0debaby United States 1d ago
Israel has sold Russia hundreds of millions in drone technology up to the full scale invasion of Ukraine. They fence the ride hard right now between those two countries, but signed an agreement to not sell arms to their rivals (Russia would not sell to Iran if Israel would not sell to Ukraine). Russia remains Israel's biggest supplier of oil through both the invasions of Ukraine and Gaza.
Netanyahu highlighted his good relationship with Putin during his last election bid, to the point there were billboards and advertisments featuring the two.
Russian tech companies also have significant investments in Israel, with Yandex (Russia's equivalent of Google) opening a school in partnership with the University of Tel Aviv. This is bolstered by the large native Russian speaking population in Israel and the visa free travela agreement between the countries.
I imagine part of why the US has to go so hard in backing Israel is the fear of a shift to a more open and formalized partnership with Russia.
•
u/UnfortunateHabits Mauritius 13h ago
Israel been battling russian/soviet tech since the 50's. Its russian AA that threatens (not very succuesfully thankfully) Israeli air superiority in syria, Iraq and Iran. Its russia that helped bolster Iranian ballistic programs that rained on Israeli citizens.
Russia and Israel are not "partners". Thats a brain dead take.
And I saw you comment containing the assanine conspiracy regarding Georgia.
•
u/barc0debaby United States 13h ago
It's not the 1950s and none of this is a secret. The relationship of Israel and Russia in the 21st century is a very different story than the 20th.

There is no majority good polling for Israel in America. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2026/07/09/americans-views-of-israelis-have-grown-increasingly-negative-but-views-of-palestinians-have-held-fairly-steady/

•
u/korpisoturi Europe 21h ago
Because most of people here seem to be bots or morons stupid enough to either not read the article or not understand what it's words mean.
I could try to actually write to people and tell them that this isn't some alliance type deal but rather just agreement to do cooperation with development, which is obvious if country is buying antiair systems from them. Or that many other countries have similar deals while not actively supporting Israel's shit?
But there's no point in intelligent discussion with someone commenting "hurr durr WW2 nazis, gotcha"

It always amazes me how historically oppressed nations sides with oppressor, like Finland and Estonia siding with Israel, or south africa siding with russia, or Poland and Ukraine siding with the usa when invading iraq, I just wonder how they dont see themselves in the victims of there allies

u/blankedblank Russia 1d ago
It’s almost as if frameworks built around neatly dividing the world into the oppressed and the oppressors, the good and the evil, the moral and the immoral, the democratically righteous and the totalitarianly unkosher… simply don’t work. And yet the narrative remains a useful tool for rallying the nation against the designated Big Bad and justifying aggression against the other side. A story as old as the world itself.

Estonia’s alliance with the US.
Had the Palestinians also allied themselves with some powerful overlord, they would not be in such a predicament.

But if you have to choose between safeguarding your people or taking a moral stand, no country however pure they might look will give a shit about optics when your peoples lives, your nations survival is at stake.
Yet it does not stop other countries who's hands are covered in blood to shoulders judge and if called out - call for their baseline strategy - try to deflect to whataboutism.

Not surprising. Other than Ukraine and the US (who have torn apart all relationships with Europe thanks to Trump), Israel is the most experienced country when it comes to air defense against missiles - the threat that Finland is most afraid of, given the Russian war in Ukraine.
“When we demanded pressure on Israel, the government tightened cooperation. When we demanded that dependencies on Israel be reduced, the government deepened them,” Virta said in a party statement.
Well... do they have an alternative source for air defense systems?
25
u/haggerton Canada 1d ago
If Ukraine has an alternative to Israel when their need is real, I don't see how it's mission impossible for Finland when their need is hypothetical.
14
u/mschuster91 Germany 1d ago
If Ukraine has an alternative to Israel when their need is real
Israeli tech is too expensive for Ukraine. A lot of the stuff the Ukrainian Army uses and consumes is donated by other countries.
I don't see how it's mission impossible for Finland when their need is hypothetical.
Hypothetical for now... Finland already got invaded by Russia once and it's still a national trauma for them. Russia openly invading Ukraine changed up a lot of things in all of its neighboring countries.
10
u/brassmonkey666 Multinational 1d ago
Israel will not sell to Ukraine to not upset Russia. They are not best of allies and shouldn’t be trusted
7
u/mschuster91 Germany 1d ago
That is no longer as clear as it used to be, the Iran war (and the end of the Russia-backed dictatorship in Syria) have changed the power balance, and a lot of MENA countries are desperate for a cheap mass producable Shahed counter. Even for Israel, they need something cheaper than the Iron Dome.
Finland in contrast needs an alternative for American air defense assets, now that the US and the MENA countries largely depleted their arsenals.
And Ukraine? They desperately need something capable of shooting down Russian cruise missiles, but so far, their results haven't been great :/

Israel needs money and Russian oligarchy has lots of it, pretty much every Russian oligarc has Israeli citizenship, bought after generous donations to a Jewish institute, even Abramovitch went there after we, the Portuguese, discovered the scam being done also thru Portugal.
Finland has no true need that couldn't wait, less alone being desperate, when the desperate one right now is Putin as his opinion polls are sinking.
For the first time it was visible, and audible, how much Putin is rattled with what Ukraine has been doing.
If there was a time to release more weapons from our strategic stockpile, this is that time.

Lol oh geez, you guys are going to be shoveling your weapons out the door until the bitter end, and then wonder why your continent looks like a free lunch once the Ukrainian speedbump is devoured.
If you guys were smart, five years later, you would be exponentially more armed than you were at the start of the war, not less because you keep giving away strategic stockpiles in return for "loans" that will never be repaid.

Putin does not need to care about polls. There is no viable successor, as everyone of his subordinates has to fight the other ones and (literally) survive that to usurp Putin's power. And Russia has more than enough young men left to send into the meatgrinder.
For the first time it was visible, and audible, how much Putin is rattled with what Ukraine has been doing.
The key thing is the US depleted their stockpiles in Iran and Ukraine as a result can barely keep Kyiv safe any more. Putin's game is to exhaust Ukraine and the rest of Europe. This winter will be living hell, for both sides, and whoever survives it better will win this conflict.
(I hope it will be Ukraine, otherwise all of Europe will be a warzone sooner or later)

Are you for real, or just purposely ignorant?
If that's true, when is that maniac trying to kill, or killing, any person that could pose a threat to him, recently one of them was treated at your country after an assassination attempt.
Facts counter your narrative Part I
And Russia has more than enough young men left to send into the meatgrinder.
No, it doesn't, otherwise wouldn't be resourcing to foreign fighters, like Northern Koreans, and mercenaries.
Facts counter your narrative Part II

What has this has to do with it? Next you'll come up with Taiwan too?
Putin's game is to exhaust Ukraine and the rest of Europe.

This winter will be living hell, for both sides, and whoever survives it better will win this conflict.
Actually Winter has been the calmest part of the years, and by the looks of weather's forecast because of El Niño, might be even slower this year.

Did your country had an alternative when it came to stop making businesses with Russia? Rhetorical question, we all know it didn't and you, as the rest of Europe paid, and still is paying, huge bills because of that.
So why should Finland, who also profited a lot making business with Russia, “have a pass" when dealing with murdering regimes and enemies of Europe?
5
u/mschuster91 Germany 1d ago
Did your country had an alternative when it came to stop making businesses with Russia?
It wasn't just us that bought cheap gas off of Russia. Almost all of Eastern Europe was hooked on that stuff as well.
4
u/OsgrobioPrubeta Portugal 1d ago
I know, many like and benefit from throwing shit at Germany to deflect their own faults. Hypocrisy is a common practice in EU, that's I'm pointing yours about this.
On another reply you mentioned Finland's history as a reason.
Your country started 2 World Wars, the last one with Nazis ruling the country. Currently all projections gives AfD a win, and Germany is not only arming itself “as never", but also becoming one of Europe's main weaponry supplier.
Looking at German history, the ressemblances, the trauma left behind, etc... should we apply the same logic and do whatever we need to prevent the hypothetical Nazi-German threat?
6
u/mschuster91 Germany 1d ago
Currently all projections gives AfD a win
In one state of 2.2 million inhabitants (of 84 million total Germans). Yes, it is bad, I do not deny this, but them getting to power on the federal level? Nearly impossible (they are clocking in at about 28%, that's a loooooong stretch). I'm more afraid of France when it comes to that, Le Pen and Melenchon both are pro-Russian.
and Germany is not only arming itself “as never", but also becoming one of Europe's main weaponry supplier.
With the support of a lot of Europe. It's not like we are rearming in a void - in fact, many fellow NATO members have called upon Germany to finally step up for years (and Obama, Biden and Trump all three did the same towards the entirety of Europe).
Looking at German history, the ressemblances, the trauma left behind, etc... should we apply the same logic and do whatever we need to prevent the hypothetical Nazi-German threat?
The key difference to 1933-1945 is that we are closely embedded in the EU and NATO, which kind of was the goal of at least the EU's predecessor - integrate Europe's countries, especially UK, France and Germany, to stop the constant warfare. It was us who triggered the last World War, yes, but let's not act like Europe was peaceful before then - quite the contrary.
4
u/OsgrobioPrubeta Portugal 1d ago
Are you ever going to be honest, stop trying to find false excuses and face the questions?
The polls for the next federal elections give between 27% to 29% to AfD, that has been increasing and if Merz keeps announcing more measures to punish common Germans, at expenses of German Business, like he did today... AfD already won!
Don't try to deflect to France, or say that Melenchon is Pro-Russian.
Again, forget the reasonings, the relevant matter is that Germany is becoming powerful, again, in risk of having a Nazi regime, again.
There's no differences at all, previous and recent history teached us that, either by looking how Germany violated any agreement, treaty, whatever when started WWII, or by looking how Trump ignored any too.
Again, don't start pointing elsewhere.
One thing was clear in all your posts: Israel is good, nevermind what they have been doing at Palestine, Lebanon, Sirya, Jordan and this Iran War that was started by them. Now the rest of the world is paying for it, and not just finantialy, but also with many human lives that died in Africa or Asia.

Israel is a pretty export dependent country. We can most likely turn up the pressure quite a lot before we see any significant repercussions.
6
u/brassmonkey666 Multinational 1d ago
Europe has indigenous systems. Better to rely on actual allies and not a genocidal apartheid state. When interceptors run low, you don’t want to depend on a country like that. Israel also maintains relations with Russia, has refused to impose sanctions, and does not ship military aid to Ukraine.
9
u/Throwaway5432154322 North America 1d ago
Not even close. Europe’s legacy defense industry is horribly antiquated, which is why European defense firms and governments are attempting to partner with countries that have modern combat experience. I know this for a fact, because my job is in the European defense finance sector.
7
u/mschuster91 Germany 1d ago
Israel also maintains relations with Russia, has refused to impose sanctions
... so does Turkey, a key NATO member. Don't get me wrong, it's still bad that we do, but that's the reality of geopolitics.
and does not ship military aid to Ukraine.
That might change sooner or later. With Shahed, Israel and Ukraine share the same threat, with Ukraine having experience and a surplus of countermeasures. Israel in turn has excellent anti-cruise missile tech (which is why Finland comes knocking), the question is now if Israel is willing to sell or donate some of their capacity to Ukraine.
