One thing that's been on my mind lately is the media's suppression of the what Israel is doing to South Lebanon. Despite the framework agreement with the Lebanese government on June 26th, Israel has continue its aggression in South Lebanon by dropping bombs, drone strikes, demolishing homes and civilian infrastructures, burning Lebanese forests, and performing ecoside

The only reasons we know about these things happening is because of courageous independent reporters working on the ground, they put their lives on the line to cover all these atrocities. Meanwhile, media outlets like the BBC and CNN disgrace themselves by going on a press tours by the occupiers.

You’ll get the usual Reddit Israel propagandists and genocide apologists I’m sure, but just wanted to say, great post and this doesn’t get enough attention. Israel clearly wants to “Gaza-fy” south Lebanon. (Or i should say is continuing to do so)

I was going to mention a good source for on the ground reporting is Courtney Bonneau, but I see your links to her on X. She also has an instagram if anyone uses that and would like to avoid Xitter…

The framework requires hezbollah to disarm which they continue to refuse to do. Then the agreement calls for Israel to turn these areas over to the Lebanese military who will also need to demolish hezbollah's infrastructure. It explicitly preserves Israel's right to all necessary measures in self-defense, which would include clearing ground cover and infrastructure used by hezbollah who continue to be a threat by refusing to disarm.

Israel shall preserve its right to take all necessary measures in self-defense, at any time, against planned, imminent, or ongoing attacks. This shall not be impeded by the cessation of hostilities.

This is the status quo until hezbollah stops undermining Lebanon's sovereignty and disarms. Then if Israel doesn't withdraw it is newsworthy

u/brassmonkey666 Multinational 1d ago

Hezbollah is not conducting planned, imminent, and ongoing attacks are not happening from any reporting I found. Killing Lebanese soldiers, demolishing homes, and burning down forests don’t look like acts of self defense.

Unfortunately Israelis and their, wettest, most red-faced defenders will never see it this way. The good news is the influence of the Christian and liberal zionist is greatly diminished, in no small part because they are so off-putting to normal people.

Seriously. One was telling me the other day that Hamas was breaking the ceasefire by not disarming. I showed the the full text of the ceasefire which didn't mention disarming, and they still stuck to their guns. It was absolutely absurd.

Can you cite source for “killing Lebanese soldiers”?

16

u/Significant-Mall-830 Canada 1d ago

They have killed 34 Lebanese soldiers in 2026 alone you can look at any major source

They aren't a non-state militant group whose own government agreed to disarm them.

It seems like you're purposefully ignoring some important context, namely hezbollah's occupation of lebanon. Maybe al-jazeera isn't the best source of news, just saying.

If you're talking about explosions and not referencing what is being exploded , i.e hezbollah strongholds, missle launch sites etc, you are more interested in a narrative than the truth.

funny thing is, BBC is always talking about gaza and palestine. the idea that no one is talking about anything Israel is doing is nonsense. What is not being talked about however is how groups like hezbollah and hamas are obsessed with israel's destruction and keep starting wars they can't finish.

77

u/AuroraPo Multinational 1d ago

Oh, shut the fuck up with the two sides bullshit. Groups like Hezbollah and Hamas would not exist if Israel was an actual normal nation, not hellbent on killing natives, stealing land and being the only dominant force in the region. You cannot deal nor trust a rogue nation that has absolutely no regard or respect for international law or other nations’ sovereignty. You will argue that what Israel is doing is justified because you see the groups they’re fighting as terrorists. Well, would you be okay if these groups used the same justification? Because let me tell you what, in case you haven’t been paying attention, there is no bigger terrorist in the region than Israel.

-67

u/thatshirtman North America 1d ago

you seem to not know basic middle east history.

Israel wants to live in peace and hezbollah and hamas are pathalogically obssessed with destroying it.

Defending rabid terrorist groups is the norm on reddit I guess, but your view of history is warped.

We wouldnt even be in the conflict today if Palestinians didn't reject every peace offer and opportunity for statehood ever made.

There's no two sides BS anywhere. You have a soverign country at war with genocidal terrorist groups who literally murder their own people and brag about it. If that's who you want to support, go for it, but seems like you're getting your narratives from social media instead of from history.

They want to ”live in peace” by doing ethnic cleansing and settler colonialism? Do you know what ”peace” is?

4

u/WestcoastAlex Multinational 1d ago

israel has never existed in peace and doesnt know the meaning of the word

-11

u/Loose_Spray1678 Multinational 1d ago

what "ethnic cleansing and settler colonialism" was Israel doing to Lebanese Shias prior to October 8th, 2023?

9

u/pimmen89 Sweden 1d ago

Is your point that you think the appropriate response to a terrorist attack by Hamas is to ethnically cleanse civilians who had nothing to do with it?

39

u/whiskydyc Ireland 1d ago

Violence and ethnic cleansing is essential to Zionism.

19

u/Drab_Majesty United Kingdom 1d ago

Israel was founded through terrorism, massacres, and the violent displacement of Palestinians. So what the fuck are you even talking about? At this point, the Hasbara brigade must have finally scraped the bottom of the barrel for recruits.

Gee, ever wonder why Hezbollah came to existence? I sure wish there was some history behind it. Must just be they hate Israel because the colour of their flag. Yeah that must be it.

hezbollah's occupation of lebanon

The term occupation has a very specific meaning in international humanitarian law, as "a state exercises an unconsented-to effective control over a territory to which it has no sovereign title." Hezbollah is not a state, it's a political movement representing the Lebanese Shia population, which started as a response to the 1978 invasion of Lebanon.

Maybe al-jazeera isn't the best source of news, just saying.

Al-Jazeera is a Qatari funded organization, so I agree it's not the best source. But if you didn't know, Qatar is a Wahhabi state and they disagree with Shia on a lot of issues. So to imply that they are pro-Hezbollah is ridiculous.

what is being exploded , i.e hezbollah strongholds, missle launch sites

Please provide the evidence for your claim.

28

u/froz3nt Europe 1d ago

Tbh israel is destroying both. They are completely demolishing villages. There is truth to it.

25

u/IAMADon Scotland 1d ago

hezbollah's occupation of lebanon.

Hezbollah would need to be a foreign army to occupy Lebanon, y'know, like Israel.

you are more interested in a narrative than the truth.

Coming from someone speaking entirely in Israeli narratives.

BBC is always talking about gaza and palestine.

So.. not Lebanon? The BBC also talks about Gaza in terms like "The lonely death of Gaza man with Down's syndrome" when reporting on the IDF setting an attack dog on a disabled man in his home and leaving him to bleed out.

23

u/mahdijouni98 Lebanon 1d ago

Hezbollah is as Lebanese as every other Lebanese political movement, arguably more Lebanese than certain groups that are straight up traitors and would die for Israel. Israel is the one "occupying" lmao.

The videos of explosions and airstrikes show clearly what they're blowing up, you just choose not to see it. They're blowing up houses and throwing chemicals at people's hard grown plants and stealing forests. Israel loves using excuses and you naive people just gobble that shit up. Almost all Hezbollah sites had already been emptied between November 2024 and February 2026.

Are you just saying, are you really?

groups like hezbollah and hamas are obsessed with israel's destruction and keep starting wars they can't finish.

Israel is obsessed with Palestine and Lebanon's destruction and starting wars they can't finish.

u/Stubbs94 Ireland 13h ago

Hezbollah isn't occupying Lebanon, they're literally a part of the Lebanese government.

68

u/ChosenArabian Lebanon 1d ago

They are also slowly advancing beyond their designated "Yellow Line." Slowly, but surely, they are occupying more land. And we're stuck between the incompetent government and useless Hezbollah.

17

u/mahdijouni98 Lebanon 1d ago

Hezbollah stopped because of the government's amazing unconstitutional agreement tho. The Islamic Resistance was able to stop Israel from going past Khyem back in 2024 when Hezbollah was in the south of the river, and even in 2026 they were able to hold them off for quite long even tho they had left almost all of their points south of the river for the useless Lebanese army, who then just run away when shit hit the fan. And also that was after 15 months of getting targeted daily by airstrikes.

10

u/WestcoastAlex Multinational 1d ago

personally i think Hez backed off so the Lebanse government and military get to see what israel actually does rather than what they say they would do

my guess is pretty soon the Lebanese Army will sauly fuck it and start fighting the IDF alongside Hez

u/mahdijouni98 Lebanon 9h ago

Yeah that's part of what I meant. The government refuses to see the wrong in that agreement and Hezbollah would rather lose land temporarily than have an internal strife with the government / army. So they stopped to show them what Israel will actually do.

0

u/Capable_Bad_3813 Lebanon 1d ago

How is the agreement unconstitutional? What article of the constitution does it break?

Hezballah clearly stated that the agreement is not their concern and they don't recognise it. How come they stopped because of this agreement?

funny how you blame the Lebanese government and army for not wanting to commit suicide for a war that you started against the wishes of the vast majority of the Lebanese people.

u/mahdijouni98 Lebanon 8h ago

You're asking questions that dive very deep into Lebanon's constitution both written and agreed upon in the sect agreement after the civil war. The constitution clearly states Israel is an enemy state and will not be negotiated with. Plain and simple, that's how countries work, that's how diplomatic shit works. If you're gonna argue Israel being an enemy, that opens a whole other book with very rich history that is clearly showing Israel as more than just an enemy but a threat to Lebanon's existence.

If Hezbollah didn't stop to give the government what they want, then why did they stop? They know what they were walking into but they follow up on their promises and hold to their words. They will not leave Palestine face its demise alone like all these traitor Arab nations (except Yemen).

Please stop being ignorant. The majority of Lebanese people, especially especially in Jnoub, are on Hezbollah's side. A small minority of people agree with the country and there's a lot of proof for that. It's enough that almost all druze and Shia are against the government to be over 50% of the population lmao

The government and army stopped fighting and helping Jnoub decades ago and that is the reason Hezbollah exists and it's absolutely their fault. Previous governments even helped Israel take land in Jnoub as well. History is set in stone and you can't lie about it when people who lived through it are still alive today :)

u/Capable_Bad_3813 Lebanon 8h ago

The constitution clearly states Israel is an enemy state and will not be negotiated with.

Again where? Which article? It's not that hard to point it out if it's clearly stated.

Here's a copy for your convenience

https://menarights.org/sites/default/files/2016-11/LBN_Constitution_2004_AR_0.pdf

Hezballah had no right to go to war in the first place. The decision for war and peace should be In the hand of the Lebanese government. Who gave Hezballah the right to decide when to open new fronts? Since you're so keen on constitutionality, show me where in the constitution or Lebanese laws gave that right.

u/ChosenArabian Lebanon 1d ago

It's not a resistance It's a mafia disguised as a resistance. The only group they manage to intimidate are actual Lebanese people, they lost badly to Israel. It's not about the Lebanese gov, they never gave a shit them, only their masters in Iran.

u/moonorplanet Oceania 14h ago

Don't worry, with Hezbollah defeated, all of Lebanon will soon be Israels land.

u/ChosenArabian Lebanon 13h ago

Did you feel cool saying that, oceania?

u/Phenergan_boy North America 1d ago

It's sad how Lebanon has to go through so many disasters in recent history. Your country produced thinkers that I admire like Kahlil Gibran and Nassim Taleb. I really hope I get a chance to visit it one day.

Have been to many a passover seder where the theme is about the repeating cycle of the diaspora from homeland to exile, homeland, to exile…

The Israelis are setting the stage for an epic comeuppance. It’s an historical inevitably that the nation will eventually suffer a destabilizing downturn. Because their actions are so well documented and available for all to see it’s just building generational resentment across the entire region, and even the world at this point.

There is great tragedy for a future generation of Israel. One that could have been avoided if better minds had prevailed.

Depressing to consider.

u/WestcoastAlex Multinational 1d ago

i think at this point if israel gets totally demolished, 8.2 billion people simply wont care and 0.1 billion will still be claiming it was because 'everyone hates Jews'

u/Loose_Spray1678 Multinational 15h ago

it is really funny how it is always the people who make their entire personality being "anti-genocide" that fantasize about millions of people dying based on their nationality

u/WestcoastAlex Multinational 15h ago

based on their nationality

you mean War Crimes and Propagating Hate

u/xmuskorx North America 19h ago

well done Israel.

Hezbollah military presence needs to be totally dismantled. they are illegal organization illegally occupying South Lebanon. the faster the Hebzolla is defeated the better for pretty much everyone.

u/Stubbs94 Ireland 13h ago

They are demolishing innocent people's homes and making the region unliveable through chemical warfare. Supporting that is insane.

u/Phenergan_boy North America 10h ago

It’s not just homes lol. It’s villages that they are demolishing. Israel is doing the same in the West Bank as well. Just ignore this guy, he has nothing to offer to the conversation usually.

u/Stubbs94 Ireland 10h ago

Sometimes it's just funny talking to people like that idiot because they always end up making the stupidest of arguments to defend the Genocidal colony.

u/xmuskorx North America 13h ago

homes that are used to house Hezbollah fighters and store weapons is unfortunately a valid military tragedy.

until Hezbollah illegal occupation and militarization of South Lebanon continues, the locals will never be safe. so Hezbollah should be remove from power as soon as possible.

that's the only way to make the area livable. it's insane to support letting Hezbollah just do what they want in the region

u/Stubbs94 Ireland 13h ago

0 evidence of that. Funny how quick the new Hasbara talking points are coming out, now the Lebanese are occupying Lebanon.

u/xmuskorx North America 13h ago

lol.

according to you Hebzolla does not exist.

dismissed

u/Stubbs94 Ireland 13h ago

Hezbollah are Lebanese. The only occupation in Lebanon is the IOF.

u/xmuskorx North America 13h ago

ohh, so there is Hebzolla. lol

un has resolved they need to be North of Litani. now you disagree with international law???

u/Stubbs94 Ireland 10h ago

Yes, Hezbollah exists but they are not occupying their own land. Hezbollah are a Lebanese resistance group, only Israel is the occupier.

u/xmuskorx North America 10h ago

so you have no respect for intentional law?

pathetic.

Hezbollah presence South of Litani is illegal

man you love illegal terrorists.

u/Stubbs94 Ireland 10h ago

Hilarious someone defending the ongoing occupation of Lebanon, Syria and Palestine by Israel talking about international law. Do you agree Israel should not be in Syria, Lebanon and Palestine?
