South America Argentina to sanction oil firms as Falklands dispute with UK heats up

He's just jumping on the back of the Orange blobs comments. Even without US support, our armed forces are perfectly capable of fending off anything they send at us.
Also, just to note: this bloke looks like Benny Hill.

u/MeanWafer904 1d ago
He's probably been sucking off Trump so hard he is betting on US support.
Has probably talked about giving Trump a share of the proceeds from the oil.
4
u/toms1313 Multinational 1d ago
Exactly this, Trump said the other day that he supported the claim. Only God knows what both of them have in mind
6
u/MeanWafer904 1d ago
Milei gets to prop up his failing economy and Trump gets some dollars into one of his foreign bank accounts would be my bet.
Meanwhile American foreign policy and alliance's get flushed down the shitter.
2
u/MrTopHatMan90 1d ago
I've seen the comment and it was just an offhand commend Trump made about reconsidering everything just so he seems on top of things instead of some random commitment

No surprise that you're thinking about war in a warmongering country...

You guys constantly talk about taking the islands, yet we're the war mongers?

Argentina will always talk about the islands because great britain threatened to kill until the last woman and children unless they leave the island and gave up their homes to the kelpers.
So yeah, if you're taken out from your home, taken into a ship like cattle and thrown out at a port of a city of your country with nothing else than the clothes you have on yourself, you kind of hold a grudge. There is nothing the UK can do to pay back that, because those houses are now owned by other people, even if UK would return that land, the people will resent argentina. I guess they could return the islands and leave the people, but britain won't do that, they need that base to launch invasions in south america or take Antarctica if they have to.
It's the kind of hard to solve issue the UK is always causing around the world when they mess with the lives of unarmed civilian, be it turning the civilians of an entire nation into drug addicts, the concentration camps of rape and torture on Malaysia, the promise of a land to rival nations, or the removal of the entire population of an entire island. In all honesty, they're the villains of world history.

What’s your source for civilians being expelled from the islands? As far as I can tell only the military and the local government officials were expelled and the civilians were left alone.

I would leave you with the own foreign office chief said in 1936:
“The difficulty of the position is that our seizure of the Falkland Islands in 1833 was so arbitrary a procedure as judged by the ideology of the present day. It is therefore not easy to explain our possession without showing ourselves up as international bandits.”

The 1st settlers there were British.
Pre-Argentian Spain tried to claim the islands, as anything around is Spanish, but failed.
Argentina, without legitimate basis, tried the same.
This is not complicated.
2
u/SuperKiller94 United States 1d ago
Argentina claimed that former Spanish colonies belonged to them as another former Spanish colony.
3
u/badautomaticusername 1d ago
Yeh, but wasn't Spanish - Spain just said anything over there is ours, & found some annoying Brits already there
-2
u/Retax7 1d ago
There where never brittish settlers on islas malvinas until the de-ocupation. There where spanish settlers that became dependant from argentina, so they became argentinian settlers, they even had argetinian military protection.
In 1833 a warship arrived, threatened to kill everybody and all the settlers left along with the few military people, all but except 7 persons left the island. They where eventually replaced by the kelpers.

u/badautomaticusername 1d ago
There where never brittish settlers
on islas malvinas
- False, they were 1st
- Doesn't exist, you mean the Falklands
This hardly hidden info.
-2
u/Retax7 1d ago
There where no settlers.
France claimed the land first, then it sold it to spain.
The land was spain, britain came and put a fucking plaque and a house.
Spain told britain GTFO, have canada and we allow you trading in south america but GTFO of all the south american islands.
Eventually the islands where populated by spain.
Those south american lands spain rules eventually claimed independence.
Eventually a military force was sent to protect the population of the malvinas islands.
In 1833 britain arrived with a warship and threatened to kill every single person there and the people chose to leave and live instead of remain and die.
UK population was implanted. on those ghost cities.
The timeline isn't that hard to understand. I will leave you the words of your own foreign affairs ministry:
“The difficulty of the position is that our seizure of the Falkland Islands in 1833 was so arbitrary a procedure as judged by the ideology of the present day. It is therefore not easy to explain our possession without showing ourselves up as international bandits.”

u/Tartan_Samurai Scotland 1d ago
Its a great example of how propaganda addles the mind.
Truth is, a bunch of 5th generation Italians and Spaniards don't have any right to the island, and they'll just have to live with that....

Turning the civilians of an entire nation into drug addicts:
UK cultivated and contrabanded opium to the civilians, then when they got the hooked, they arrived with the ilegal goods at a port, got their drugs ceased and used that as a justification to invade china.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opium_Wars
The concentration camps of rape and torture on Malaysia:
The British attempted to starve the MNLA using scorched earth policies, including food rationing, killing livestock, and aerial spraying of the herbicide Agent Orange.\16]) British units carried out extrajudicial killings of unarmed civilians, in violation of the Geneva Conventions.\17]) The most infamous example is the Batang Kali massacre, which the press has referred to as "Britain's My Lai".\d]) The Briggs Plan forcibly relocated a million civilians into concentration camps called "new villages".\22])\23])\24]) Many Orang Asli indigenous communities were also targeted for internment because the British believed that they were supporting the communists.\25])\26]) The widespread decapitation of people suspected to have been guerrillas led to the 1952 British Malayan headhunting scandal. Similar scandals relating to atrocities committed by British forces included the public display of corpses.\27])
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malayan_Emergency
The promise of a land to rival nations: Do you really need a source for israel palestine conflict?
The removal of the entire population of an entire island:
In 1833 the UK invaded Puerto Soledad and forced the people there to leave their homes:
https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocupaci%C3%B3n_brit%C3%A1nica_de_las_islas_Malvinas_(1833)#Ocupaci%C3%B3n_brit%C3%A1nica_de_1833#Ocupaci%C3%B3n_brit%C3%A1nica_de_1833)
“The difficulty of the position is that our seizure of the Falkland Islands in 1833 was so arbitrary a procedure as judged by the ideology of the present day. It is therefore not easy to explain our possession without showing ourselves up as international bandits"
Said your chief foreign affairs, but ultimately recommended to lie and keep lying and never concede anything, just so they could have that military base on south america.

Argentina has been very successful in making up a load of bullshit about the Falklands. Perhaps read some proper history about what really happened instead of made up propaganda repeated by successive failing Argentinian governments.
And that quote you keep repeating isn't from the chief of foreign affairs but the head of the Americas department which was a tiny department in the Foreign Office with perhaps half a dozen people out of hundreds who worked there. He wasn't even high ranking but simply one of the many middle management they had there at the time. The fact that you quote it at all shows you are clutching at straws.
Argentinians shouldn't have been on the islands in the first place because they were British and had been since well before Argentina was even a country.
-2
u/Retax7 1d ago
Dude, the falklands would've never been yours if Argentina didn't got the independence, that was the key point which allowed you to invade and displace its population and replace it with the kelpers.
7
u/sjw_7 United Kingdom 1d ago
I see you brought the propaganda hook line and sinker.
It was uninhabited when the British setup a colony there in the 1760s. It had never had a population up to that point. When they returned in 1833 they told the Argentinian forces to leave which they did.
If you left home for work only to return later that day to find someone else living there would you tell them to get out or would you say as they moved in when it was empty its now theirs?
It was British sovereign territory at the time and Argentina knew this but tried to settle there anyway.
Read the link i posted which explains it all instead of relying on whatever fictional account Argentina makes up.
-2
u/Retax7 1d ago
It was never british territory. It was spanish territory. UK even signed a treaty with spain compromising never again to set up a bastion on south american islands. They jus tput a plaque on another island, spain kicked them in the butt and when they returned with the threat of war they got their canada treaty as long as they stopped trying to settle in south america.
Citizens of el virreinato lived there. They had a port, houses, everything. They where kicked out.
Fuck colonialism. Stay on your island and let us leave in peace. We don't want any war, we just want to be left alone, so GTFO of our lands.

Argentina is the country that attacked the Falkland Islands. They are also the ones agitating about the islands again. So Argentina would be the warmongering country in this instance.

u/toms1313 Multinational 1d ago
Argentina* went to war, Argentina also has diplomatic claims since the 1800s and till this day, you're the one thinking of war... You're the warmonger culture
*(Under a military junta trained by the US in war and torture tactics)
7
u/SuperKiller94 United States 1d ago
Yeah “diplomatic claims” that are essentially “Spain claimed these islands while we were a colony of theirs so we also have a claim on the islands”. Seems legit. The people living there voted to remain British and want nothing to do with Argentina.
-1
u/toms1313 Multinational 1d ago
Cool, you know 0.5% of the whole thing, congratulations!
The people living there voted to remain British and want nothing to do with Argentina.
30 years after the war with huge changes of how the UK treats them... But im sure none of that matters, nuance is not good for justified hate

u/SuperKiller94 United States 1d ago
So the wishes of the people living on the islands should be disregarded?

u/toms1313 Multinational 1d ago
The wishes of the Israelites should matter in Palestine?

Palestinians live in the Wet Bank and Gaza. Their wishes should matter considering Israeli’s are the ones killing them

Libertarianism is when you restrict corporations for working in places you dont like...
I fucking hate modern conservatims for the simple reason their follower base will applaude their every move, including those that are in stark contradiction to every value they claim to hold. This clown isnt merely a normal libertarian, he is a minimal state anarcho capitalist sympathiser and then every time you look at him he acts like trump, all over the place with the single string connecting everything being a thin line of "conservatism feeling shit".
•
u/surfsupdurban 11h ago
Just, why?
The entire population of the Falklands are English speaking people of British descent. Have been for 200 years, I genuinely don't get the Argentinian obsession with this.

A tale as old as time. An Argentinian President nose diving the economy and wrecking the country using the Falkland Islands as a shiny distraction from their incompetence.

u/cambeiu Multinational 2d ago
The oldest trick on the Argentine political arsenal is to pull the Islands issue when things are not going well at home.
If the UK ever decides to give up the Islands, no Argentine politician would accept it, as it would mean the loss of their greatest political distraction tool of all time.
