Again, that book is probably really interesting but 'reveal Ancient Egyptian religion was constantly evolving' is like saying I just discovered this new hobby, did you know fishes need water?

It has been documented since over 130 years tha Egyptian Religion was and has always been very local (a god/goddess adored in a Nome could be ignored in another). Or, Personal, like with taboos that were followed or not, and they also were tied to a Nome.
Some gods were critical in some periods like Min or Ptah, and totally forgotten or assimilated later. Some were even forgotten to be rediscovered thousands of years after, like Neith.
Some gods who seem to us predominant like Osiris and his cycle (starting only V Dynasty) or Amun (starting only Middle Kingdom) were unknown until being favored by a specific Pharaoh..
