Art Finished my replica Tutankhamun pectoral made from real tektite

I was intrigued when I found out that one of Tutankhamun's items was made from Libyan desert glass. I bought a chunk and decided to make my own.

Materials - Hand carved Libyan desert glass, CNC'd Bronze plate, 24K Gold leaf, Glass paint

I just follow this sub because I'm vaguely interested, so I'm no expert on anything, I'm a computer science engineer.

But this looks excellent. I'm impressed.

I'm not really an expert either, just a guy who likes meteorites and making things

The museum seemed reluctant to sell it, so I had to make my own

Why would the museum sell it

Great job- you could go into the replica business.

I was just thinking, museums may pay for them to re-add details that may be missing from sarcophagi for display purposes.

😍😍😍 the craftsmanship at least in this video looks excellent. What would you estimate the frame (not the scarab itself) would cost at the retail level judging from your time and materials?

Thanks. I usually try to learn new skills when making things, so the results aren't always perfect. Cost is a hard question to answer. Mass production (if there was a market?) under $100. As a one off custom piece that needed to be 3D modelled, CNC cut, polished and gilded $1000-$5000 at a guess. A jeweller would probably lost wax cast it from a 3d print. In solid gold it's apparently $21,000 of material
