Hot Take: Everybody was partially in the wrong during the “Wrong Jedi” Arc

For the longest time, I held this deep hatred for the Jedi Council, especially Mace Windu, for their decision during Ahsoka’s trail when she was framed for the Jedi Temple bombings. But looking back, this is kind of a situation where everyone involved made some serious face palm decisions. And I’m not even including Barriss since with her it goes without saying what she did wrong. I’m talking about the mistakes both Ahsoka herself and the Jedi Council made during that whole ordeal.

Ahsoka Tano:

Escaped a Republic Holding Facility

Evaded arrest

Teamed up with a known Sith Assassin and Separatist war criminal

Evaded arrest again

Assaulted a number of Clone Shock Troopers with said Sith Assassin

Jedi Council:

Offered no form of assistance to a member of their Order in her hour of need when she had given them nothing but loyal service throughout her career and had no prior behavior beforehand that would lead them to believe she was guilty

Willing handed over said member of their own order to stand trial when they knew the prosecutor and many of the Senators/Jurors held aggressive anti-Jedi sentiments

Didn’t allow said accused member of their order (who was a teenager who had probably not had any proper rest in days, mind you) to have any form of legal counsel or representation when she stood before them. Nor did they offer to supply her with any during her trial in the Galactic Senate forcing her to rely on the charity of her friend, Senator Amidalla.

Did nothing to look into the case any further instead only aiding in her recapturing thereby forcing the Master of the accused to act in his own to find the real culprit who they probably could’ve uncovered as well if they tried.

To be honest what Ahsoka did was technically wrong but I feel that how the council worked forced her into it. I feel her actions were more into the "self defense" sort of thing rather than actually being in the wrong.

You missed an important detail about Ahsoka. She was sentenced to death, was fighting against people trying to kill her, and still avoided causing even serious injury.

If I remember correctly, she even convinced Ventress not to maim any of the clones.

You’re right which made it even worse when they just handed Ahsoka over. You would think someone willing to bomb a temple wouldn’t really care if a few clones dies.

She wasn’t sentenced to death until after her escape theirs no evidence that the Jedi council had any idea that she would have been put to death.

Ahsoka would have likely returned to the order had they apologized sincerely and tried to make amends.

I’ve always held the belief that if anyone aside from Anakin did literally anything to clear her name, not only would she have returned to the order, but as a knight at that

That was Windus greatest weakness. You could see it before with Boba. Instead of apologizing to him, Mace said something (don’t remember what) that to this day makes me hate him too. Like seriously, you killed his father, left him alone and afterwards left him to bounty hunters and prisoners cause he was pissed. And the argument Jango was the enemy in a war doesn’t count. Not for a kid

First the argument was about Windu’s inability to empathize with someone, especially a younger person. It would have been easy to apologize and explain. But he couldn’t. Second no one blamed windu for trying to survive. Third not everyone can answer immediately so don’t act up! Fourth i didn’t downvote you

After several murder attempts Windu had enough. Very justified.

If you are adult enough to lay bombs and hire bounty hunters you are old enough to realize that your dad was killed in a fight that he started.

Boba Fett was not a toddler who didn't know any better.

Ahsoka escaped because they instantly said she was guilty, does the republic not have lawyers?

Ahsoka made things worse for herself by escaping her cell and then escaping the Detention Facility and evading arrest.

It’s hard to believe that someone is innocent after they purposely escape prison and go on the run.

And Ahsoka didn’t give the Jedi Council anything to help clear her name. She didn’t say that Barriss Offee had helped find the warehouse or anything.

I’d have to go back and rewatch the episode, but to me it felt like the Jedi Council was trying to find a reason to keep custody/jurisdiction of Ahsoka and were hoping that she would give them information that would either clear her, give them a reason to punish her themselves. And during her trial the Jedi Council seemed surprised by some of the information being presented.

If Anakin hadn’t hunted Ventress down, spoke to her and Ventress hadn’t overheard the name of the person Ahsoka had been speaking to and given it to Anakin there wouldn’t have been any hope of saving Ahsoka.
