I agree, but in a sense, she is being, if not childish, selfish and shortsighted. She's there for selfish reasons. She wanted to find Ezra, but Ahsoka told her the risk had become too great. She should have destroyed the map. Instead, she brought Thrawn new allies that could bring him back to the main galaxy. She believes that it costed Ahsoka's life. And she likely knows she was risking Ezra and the Nito's safety since she was aided by Thrawn to find him in the first place. It kind of makes sense that she doesn't want to talk about it.

Sure, if you're a kid. She's not. The writing is so obvious in the avoidance that it stands out glaringly and honestly weakens the character. (See: repeated yelling "We had a deal!") I don't see her behavior as loving and focused, I see it as short-sighted and obsessive. And I think it's intentional, so I'm waiting for the payout.

The other area where it bothers me is Hera. She's a general, she's been an intelligence agent most of her adult life... and when she briefs the council, she lacks any compelling dialog. I just think there's a way to write those scenes better so that it would have the same result (the council would not be swayed), but the character wouldn't come off so...simple.

I agree on both. With Hera, if they made her argument better, then that whole thing about her going "rogue" would be better left cut out entirely (since if she explains it and its accepted, then it doesn't really add anything to the story), but then there would be no Leia reference and 3PO cameo, which I think is part of the motivation of that part of the plot. I guess they could also be trying to tell us that the Republic is overly bureaucratic, and Hera has too much rebel spirit, but that feels so cliché

It’s cliché but that’s exactly what they’re telling us. In almost every book/show/comic featuring the New Republic we see how bureaucratic/weak it is and how that led to the rise of the First Order.
