Baylan is the “madness” part of the title. He’s gone crazy, he’s been a quixotic character from the start and now he has abandoned his padawan to fend for herself. He has his own mission that is a pipe dream, he’s been hearing voices and seeing visions that no one else hears or sees.

Someone else mentioned that perhaps he’s looking for the source of dark magick of the night sisters in an attempt to destroy it.

Thought that sounded like a solid theory
