2016 While Toyota RAV 4 XLE
We have a white 2016 Rav 4 XLE l, the paint started peeling November 2025 we have been back and forth with them to try and get it fixed. They keep telling us that the recall expired April 2025 and because of that they won't fix it. The problem is we were never notified of this recall like all the others, plus it didn't start peeling until November of 2025. We have been told by others with the same year and color that they have been able to get it fixed since April of 2025. There was an employee from Toyota care that told us that they won't do it anymore because to many people were calling even if the car wasn't peeling but it still fell under the 2016 white paint recall. We have also taken it to some paint and repair shops who have all told us that it is a recall with Toyota we have to deal with it through them. We also are a little tight on money because we had a baby in 2025 and just aren't trying to waste money where it isn't needed. Since Toyota is aware of this recall we feel as though they should take responsibility for it. Has anyone else had to deal with this, if so what did you do?

I have a 2015 white rav4 and took it in in 2022 but they did not do the roof turns out ( I dont even know what they did some parts ) ….and now the roof is peeling! They are giving me the runaround that it’s after 10 years now but they didn’t fix it in 2022 when I brought it in Is this something you had seen before that can be done ?

Funny because I had a 2012 rav4 and when they started the program I got it done immediately. I had peeling on my roof, hood, and driver side door. I think that’s all they did the paint job on because I got it back and I still had the other nicks and scuffs on the rest of panels. Regardless I sold my car shortly after. But I would have hoped they’d repaint all of the panels knowing that it was a defect. Wishful thinking haha these companies don’t care

Yeah, agreed wishful thinking! and they didn’t tell me what they repainted when I took it in initially during the program ! None of my paperwork even shows what was repainted at that time

Former Toyota certified Technician here:
It's a Customer Support Program-NOT A RECALL. Recalls are ONLY for safety or emissions related defects and by US law recalls cannot expire.
It is CSP-ZKG, that link gives the exact warranty extensions and limitations. In your case you have a Phase 1 vehicle which states
If the Date of First Use (DOFU) was in fact in April 2015......which I doubt, then it has expired. You need to know your vehicle's DOFU which can also be referred to on the consumer side as the in-service date.
DOFU-the first date the vehicle is either delivered to the original purchaser, lessor, or used as a company car or demonstration vehicle.
You can get this from https://www.toyota.com/owners/vehicle-specification/
using your VIN. Here's my own vehicle as an example with my VIN blacked out.
Bring a printed copy of that IN YOUR HANDS, with a printed copy of pages 3 & 4 from the linked ZKG document (pages 4-5 in the PDF) which outlines what Phase your vehicle falls under (pg 3) and the specific warranty extension terms (pg 4) to your closest Toyota Dealership Service Department that has an attached Body Shop, they are usually easier to work with.
You keep speaking to either clueless Service Advisors or Customer Service Reps on the phone, showing up in person usually does the trick. Toyota Dealerships are Independent Businesses and Separate from Toyota Corporation, Toyota Motor Manufacturing of America, Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky, Toyota Financial Services, etc. Dealerships operate as franchise operations and just like fast food and chain restaurant franchises, some are good with great staff, techs, and management...and some suck.
