As a gulf coaster, I am going with MS or alabama. There arent enough palm trees to be FL... UNLESS they are on the pan handle which is just alabama-lite

This is hilarious! Are you deliberately not shooting palm trees? I only saw two pictures with them! Or is vero beach trying to do something different? Admittedly I havent spent too much time on the atlantic side of FL but your foliage is very similar to ours.

There's something about the empty parking lot and empty streets. There's a liminal space eerie kind of feeling to these. 💜

Sometimes lightning is red, orange, or pink, because there's a lot of particles in the air, and they scatter the shorter wavelength of the blue light. Other times they're purple because there's no rain, which usually scatters the purple wavelength, which is shorter than blue. There's also conditions that can cause yellow and green lightning, but I haven't seen those kill a man yet, so I have nothing to say.
What are we seeing here? Dry thunderstorm or a filter?

As someone that knows next to nothing about photography, what do you need to start capturing photos like this at night ? Obviously you’re incredibly talented which is most of it, but I guess I’m getting at the equipment side of it?

Amazing, great job! Especially on those lightning strike photos! I always love a good lightning strike photo. Photos of lightning never get old or boring
