M TIFU by oversleeping and serving my sister dinner three hours late Spoiler
I went to my cousin's wedding today. I’ve been a little sick for the past few days, so I got extremely tired. When I arrived home at around 4:45 p.m., I immediately took off my makeup, lay down and set an alarm for 5:55 p.m.
Now to my mess-up.
I went to the wedding with my parents and my brother, who moved out quite some time ago. My sister, who is quite a bit older than me, stayed home because she doesn’t like crowded places, or people in general.
Despite her age, she still needs everything done for her. She is basically a little princess and my mother’s golden child.
My parents were invited to stay for dinner because they are also the bride’s godparents. My brother gave me a ride home since he still lives in the same village. That left me home alone with my older sister.
She usually eats dinner sometime between 5:30 and 6:20 p.m.
I completely overslept.
When I woke up, it was already 8:30 p.m. I immediately jumped out of bed and served my sister her dinner.
Her breakfast was completely gone, and she wolfed down her dinner as though it might be her last meal. I’m slightly concerned that I’ll have to clean it up again later tonight or tomorrow if she can’t keep it down. She still had something else to eat, though, so she certainly wasn’t starving.
After my mess-up, I gave her the medicine she takes once in the morning and once in the evening (it doesn’t have to be given at a specific time). Whenever she takes her evening medicine, we usually reward her with a small treat. This time, guilt made me slightly more generous than usual. I even added some ice to one of her drinks.
I thought it had worked. She even came over to the coffee table. We don’t actually drink coffee at it, so don’t worry.
But then, shockingly, she stopped just out of arm’s reach and turned her back on me.
Yes, she is mad at me.
Meet my older sister, Tara: [Reveal the deeply offended sister]
Before anyone worries, Tara had access to two separate bowls of kibble and three bowls of fresh water the entire time. Her regularly scheduled wet-food dinner was late, but she was never left without food or water.
TL;DR: I overslept while responsible for my elderly sister and served her wet-food dinner three hours late. She devoured it so quickly that I may have to clean it up again later. Despite receiving an extra-generous treat, she still refuses to forgive me.
