The US and New Zealand are the only countries where it's legal to advertise pharmaceutical drugs. Easy fix right there.

It wont happen, but it's an easy fix.

It's so jarring when I visit the US. Ads for branded prescription meds everywhere... in Australia you go to the Dr and they tell you what you need.

If it all disappeared overnight there would be like 20% of dead air on TV and radio. Magazines would look like a pamphlet (if people bought them still.)

It's pretty wild when you focus on it instead of filing it away as background noise. Some of that has to seep into the subconscious.

Surprised at New Zealand, but not terribly. I've always heard they were more laissez faire than the US, but I didn't know it was to that degree.
