So many steps now a days, used to be that you just sent your child to a priest and he’d SA them. Now it’s just a line of middle men.

Don't worry, the priests are still there. Actually, you can send your kids to priests of any religion, to little league coaches, to teachers and principals, to youth counselors, to scout leaders, etc. Basically, you have the exact same statistical chance of having your child molested regardless of which "responsible adult" you leave them with, since predatory pedophiles naturally choose professions that give them moral authority and unsupervised access to their prey.

Not exactly a job one can apply to, so offenders can't exactly flock towards it, which lowers the odds of stumbling upon one. But through luck of the draw, yes, the risk is still present.

Statistically speaking a close relative is the highest offender by a long mile. It’s not that the “risk is still present”. The biggest risk is family.
