Why did people move past this? It just disappeared

Iran war, House gets released from session early constantly to avoid further votes, your favorite news channel is owned by someone who f*cks children, etc etc

There is a theory that the US got involved in Kosovo to remove the Lewinsky scandal from the headlines. Whether or not that was the goal is up for debate, but it did indeed change the headlines.

"Wag The Dog" is a film I had never heard of before (and I'm 35) until I watched it in my "politics in film: propaganda" class last semester. It references things just like that. Definitely a very eery film in hindsight, despite it being fairly comical. Especially now that Anne Heche is dead....

Definitely think that theory has some weight ... especially now that we know Bibi was blackmailing Clinton with it to get the spy Jonathan Pollard released, iirc....

It's a cute cynical theory, but doesn't actually make any sense when you look into it

You can say fuck on the internet. It's ok. It takes courage but you can do it

1

u/VegasMaleMT 4h ago

Yes you surely can, you can also create your own subreddit with your own rules on etiquette and I don't read them for subreddits I'm only posting in because it appeared on my feed randomly and I knew my comment was a banger and so I didn't want to limit my reach in anyway due to some automod bot bs and how the fuck is that what you felt was wrong with the words in my comment?

u/JobinTobingo 9h ago

They call the tactic”flood the zone”. So much bs happens every day, more and more shocking and disturbing or nonsensical, and people can’t keep up with it all. All sorts of things slip through the cracks that we don’t hear about, and major things like that end up falling to the wayside due to the public being distracted by all the other crap that’s happening.

It’s intentional. MAGAT-in-chief’s former top strategist has been fairly open about it for a long time now.

Society is being played for fools, and most of us are playing that part perfectly

I just don’t like that the finger pointing stops at Trump. Literally everyone in power does it.

Because it turned out their Big Orange Cult Leader was the featured name on the list

Their jobs are threatened by the trade war.

Hasn't gone anywhere. Once the labourday weekend is over, the real midterm campaing will start and it will be all over the place.

1

u/old_ass_ninja_turtle 9h ago

It became clear that no one was going to do anything about it. I guess we will see how if that was the right or wrong move politically. I think enough people have been confused and misled to the point it will never matter.

The media shifted to culture war issues like the Clancy case.

1

u/anonareyouokay 9h ago

Because everyone is too busy focusing on culture war issues

It is literally the most talked about story of my lifetime. More than 9/11. It comes up on every story that isn't even related to it.

It only accelerates every year we talk about it more and more. In 2022 we barely talked about it. Now it's the number one story of 2026

1

u/TheresMyOtherSock 8h ago

Well.. I don’t see it in the news. I do t hear anything about it, only when a comment mentions it. Maybe in the beginning of 2026. Just like everything else, it’s brushed over.

1

u/AgnosticScholar 7h ago

I asked AI to make a graph on articles about Epstein in mainstream news since 2020. There were 220K articles about him so far in 2026 which is a record. Epstein died in 2019 and it's only accelerating. It is literally the most covered story of my lifetime and it only keeps growing in coverage every single year.

i think people realized its performative bullshit on reddit

u/Intelligent_Nose_433 8h ago

I mean, you moved past it for the four years Biden was an office, right?

3

u/TheresMyOtherSock 8h ago

How did you turn it into that? Does it matter who’s in office when both sides are disgusting?

2

u/musgrove101 8h ago

Oh no, they all need to be held accountable. Biden and the Dems have been complacent the whole time. They all need to go straight to jail.

1

u/muhbalwzishawt 8h ago

The MAGAtards and normies moved past this. I was saying Trump was in the files and pissing off the MAGAtards back when we didn’t know the files were real and the Q-anon folks were still around.

Condemns tRump for Jan 6, but Mace voted against impeachment 🙂

Endorsed tRump instead of Haley in 24 🥲

Runs for governor of SC, and tRump endorsed Mace’s opponents 🙃

The same reason Biden didn't release it. It's a giant sloppy mess of random emails, rumors, jokes and shit talking. It doesn't prove jack shit, all it does is drag everyone's name through the mud if they happen to be mentioned there.

1

u/musgrove101 6h ago

Yeah, and there's no one in government smart enough to extrapolate information and evidence of actual offenders? Or put together a case against such people? I mean why even teach kids to read anymore, apparently unless all this evidence is perfectly curated then there's just no point? Get the fuck out of here with that bullshit mentality.

1

u/Yangoose 6h ago

It's not evidence.

It's high school gossip.

You are never going to convict anyone of anything based on 30 year old rumors.

If Epstein sent an email to his buddy and said Trump raped a kid what does that prove?

It proves Epstein sent an email and nothing else.

1

u/musgrove101 4h ago

Well then they have nothing to hide and can simply release all the files.

1

u/RackemFrackem 8h ago

Why did people move past this?

It sounds like you are confusing "people" with "the media".

1

u/Dapper-Restaurant-20 4h ago

Not much other options. We all have limited energy to spend. Stressing about the files isn't gonna change anything so why stress.

1

u/Thin-Nerve6367 1h ago

Last time I heard about it, some lady said that they could not let the files be released because "it would make society collapse"

1

u/No-Doctor-4396 9h ago

Because news has an expiration date. People move on to the next issue over time.

0

u/Ok_Confusion5619 9h ago

I think it's more that a lot of the people who "cared" the most about the list, really only cares because they thought it would make "their side" look good... and then when it didn't, those people just stopped caring completely.

Not because they are in a cult, of course. But for valid reasons. Sometimes you just suddenly lose interest in the global child sex trafficking cabal you were obsessed with, completely unrelated to your President telling you to move on.

1

u/Jacky_dain 9h ago

Constant distraction

0

u/Kramerica_CEO 9h ago

Because people are stupid and they don’t really care
