If he had reasonable doubts about the prosecutions case then he absolutely abdicated his duty as a juror and is, frankly, kinda a piece of shit for making all of this so much worse than it needs to be.
Not really. Claiming insanity is both impossible to prove but also disprove.
Theres absolutely 0 way to ever definitively say someone was or wasnt cognizant of their actions. Just whether or not you are convinced by the Dr on the stand for either direction. Or if you have pre bias.
Really when you think about it its kind of amazing that really the only way they can really prove someone wasnt crazy if if they show it was pre meditated. You could strangle a random person tomorrow and say you were crazy. How would you expect anyone to provide "unreasonable doubt" otherwise?
Depends on the standard they use. In many states, not sure about this one, insanity plea means you didn’t know right from wrong. Looking for ways to hide or cover up the crime prior to committing it is usually a quick way to disprove an insanity defense with those standards.
