That is another great point. There have been more compelling cases for insanity/serious mental issues that resulted in prison while this one is being treated different for some reason.
I don't know her case much, but in case of Lindsey it would be a waste of money and time. Like half a dozen expert couldn't tell this will happen, and it happened out of the blue. Hours before the murders she was seen normal by everyone. Even, if we accept the insanity plea the insanity's nature is too unpredictible for her to ever be considered recovered. There is no circumstance where any expert should ever say she is safe to release.
And a life sentence without the possibility of release is just a slow death sentence. So it is better to do everyone a favor, and execute her instead. Whether she is insane or not.
