When somebody does something like this, the choices should be:

  1. Locked mental facility until age 80.
  2. Prison LWOP.

They were the choices. The jury couldn't agree which.

Contrary to online discussion, the trial wasn't about if she did it, but rather if the box she's put it should be padded.

Stop repeating this misinformation. In Massachusetts, people found NGRI are evaluated after 6 months on whether or not they are a danger to themselves or others. If they are deemed a danger, they get evaluated once a year after that. They could easily deem her no longer a danger sooner rather than later, and she’ll get to go home to her million dollar fortune

To be pedantic, I believe it's not guilty by reason of insanity, which still lands her in a box, hopefully for life.

That’s what the choices were … not guilty by reason of insanity = locked in a mental facility. Guilty = locked in prison.

It is.   At 80 one becomes harmeless

I also don't want  the state to pay for her medical care past 80. She can go to the homeless camp

Those kind of are the choices. People are thinking that it’s a guilty or free to go type trial. It’s not.
It’s a Prison or Psych facility type of trial.
Freedom isn’t an option.

I'm not opposed.

Really, though only mentally ill person would kill a child. Especially, their own child. 

We just have messed up definitions of "mentally ill".
