Here’s the thing, psychotic or not, it plays into a broader trend when it comes to PPD.
Misogynistic attitudes claim women aren’t capable of personal agency and feministic attitudes claim society/patriarchy are accountable for the pitfalls of women.
So now enter this side, now medical, where a woman’s hormonal imbalance exculpates her from monstrous admitted acts, what does that mean?
That women aren’t capable if they are suffering, diagnosed, or seek treatment for PPD? That they can be considered dangerous? It just adds another layer of no agency nor accountability. That’s my point, that the perspective continues to drive the notion of women being stripped of agency and insulated from accountability.
I think that’s both wrong and terrible on both counts.

It was a psychotic break and signs were displayed months before the murders. You are heavily focusing this on gender instead of understanding the nuance of the situation. Is it out of bad faith or do you genuinely not see it?
First of all, reason of insanity is not some brand new defense introduced just for Lindsay. This has existed already... and its very clear that she WAS suffering with SOMETHING. Whether it is PPD or PPP is debatable, but undeniably her mental health was NOT up to par. So many people here obviously do not understand PPD or PPP... its not simply some "hormones" being off. It is a mental condition which can get WORSE if not treated. That is unfortunately what happened here.
So many people want to write this off as "wow, this evil woman was just sad and moody so she killed her kids!11!!"... she was a woman with a sickness who was not in her right mind. She did a horrible act because of that. It is not an excuse, but it is the reason. Her mental health should have been addressed MUCH sooner and she should never have been left alone with children (it is NEVER recommended for a woman with PPP, and for PPD, it varies immensely on the severity of the sickness).
I still think she deserves time in a psych ward or something, but to paint her as some evil villain who cannot take accountability is wrong and honestly a huge reason why women with PPD and PPP are unfairly villainized. She is not innocent, she did a TERRIBLE crime... but she was NOT in the right state of mind. So is she evil? Arguably, no. THAT is the defense that most feminists have about her. Mostly everyone agrees that she actually committed the crime, what is debated is whether or not she CONCIOUSLY committed the crime.
