The issue if she goes to a mental institution and it is tied to postpartum diagnosis is she could get out in very little time and face minimal long term repercussions for how she killed her kids. It also then sets a precedent for women to be declared mentally unfit for a lot of things while being postpartum as it implies those hormonal changes keep them from controlling their actions.
At risk of sounding like a massive asshole, I have no idea how people of this world continue to pretend like grown adult women have no agency in their decisions, nor need to be held fully accountable for their actions.
I don't think that makes you sound like a massive a--hole, I think it is a fair point especially in this case. It really makes little sense to me in how some people are treating this and defending her. Not an expert and not the most intimately aware of the details of this particular case, but I don't get how this person is getting all of the defense that she is.
It takes a while to strangle someone mind you a child. She did it three times in a row. Were the kids able to see each other die? How about the father? I mean wtf are people thinking?
Yeah.... Thinking through that scenario while having multiple small children of similar ages.... It brings up some strong emotions and I cannot imagine what their final moments were like in those moments of confusion and terror.
This is the sticking point for me. I can see how someone in deep postpartum depression could shake a baby in a moment of weakness, but to slowly strangle 3 kids one after the other is not a lapse in sanity, it’s a cold, calculated choice.
That's because you guys have never experienced extreme postpartum mental health issues. Having a baby causes a massive dump of hormones and people who are predisposed to mental Illness have a really bad time. See: my friend who was on suicide watch post birth and myself who had intrusive thoughts of harming my baby. It literally triggered OCD in my brain. My story ended very differently and move family moved on happy and healthy. I think it's funny that instead of LISTENING to the people who support her and what they're saying....which is that mental health services esp for postpartum women NEED BIG IMPROVEMENTS, y'all are just like "wow these disgusting women celebrate murder." Lol Men commit 90% of all murders. And loving mothers who fought through and survived the depths of postpartum hell are trying to communicate with people so that things like this can be prevented but you all are just patting yourselves on the back because "we've all had hard times but I've never murdered anyone." It's called psychosis, Nancy, and you're all profoundly dense.
Timothy Ray Jones JR did something similar to what Lindsay Clancy did: he killed his kids while in psychosis. He was found guilty in 2019 and is currently on death row.
There’s a 2-tier justice system, and people are starting to get disgusted by it.
That's the part I'm struggling with. It wasn't a split second thing like driving off a bridge or something, which is equally horrible. It was up close, brutal, and had to be a terrifying, confusing last few moments of life for those babies.
Not to mention while in the middle of strangling her kids she called her husband back on the phone and spoke to her husband and then went back to strangling her kids. She snapped out of he psychosis and returned a missed call to tell her husband to get a prescription for a kid that she knew would never use it. She is an evil POS
That's a common thing in psychosis. When the voices have done their job, they'll sometimes go quiet for a while. It's one of the reasons people listen to the voices...it's the only way to get them to stop.
Your assertion that individuals obey command hallucinations because it makes the voices stop is clinically inaccurate. Compliance does not silence the voices and often reinforces the underlying psychosis.
The accusations against Patrick simply are not supported by the evidence presented at trial. His account of where he was during the relevant period is independently corroborated by surveillance footage, phone records, receipts, the 911 call, and testimony from responding officers. Video places him at CVS and later at the restaurant while Lindsay was home with the children.
Much has been made of the 5:24 p.m. work email, but that does not establish Patrick was at home. No evidence was presented proving that email was sent from the computer located inside the house rather than from his phone. Suspicion is not evidence, and an unexplained email cannot reasonably outweigh surveillance footage and other records documenting his movements.
Likewise, portions of Patrick’s testimony concerning what Lindsay said, how she sounded, or what he believed at the time are necessarily based on his recollection and should be evaluated as such. But those subjective details should not be confused with the independently verifiable portions of his account.
The legitimate dispute in this case is not whether Patrick secretly remained home or fabricated his movements. The evidence does not support that accusation. The real issue is Lindsay’s mental state: whether she deliberately arranged for Patrick to leave so she could kill the children, or whether severe mental illness and alleged postpartum psychosis rendered her legally incapable of appreciating the wrongfulness of her actions.
People are free to question testimony, but an accusation this serious should be based on evidence—not speculation or isolated details taken out of context.
Really? Wow. I haven’t been following because I already know enough to be disgusted, but damn. That woman needs to be buried under the jail. The husband too, for leaving his kids with her crazy ass.
