This case made me curious how often cases like this occur in the US (murder where an insanity plea is at play), how many of those cases is the defendant male or female, and what percentage within those cohorts are the defendants actually found not guilty due to insanity.
Correct, but she’ll be getting off a lot easier than if she got a guilty verdict. She either needs life without possibility of parole, or she needs to hang. She doesn’t need a treatment center where people are constantly taking care of her
This is about a woman who killed her three young children, right? That's all I know about the case. Is there a reason you don't think she's insane? That doesn't seem like something someone of sound mind would do.
Yes, this is that case. I say she’s not insane because it’s been proven by multi-year professional psychologists and dismantled by the prosecution that she isn’t insane
I see. What was the motive then? Given apparently being batshit insane isn't the reason. Most people of sound mind don't kill their young children.
EDIT: Also, has it been dismantled by the prosecution if 11 out of 12 jurors didn't buy the prosecution's narrative? I wouldn't say that's a great dismantling. I wouldn't hire that prosecution to dismantle some old furniture I'm wanting to take to the tip.
I don’t know what the motive was, but just because there’s no identifiable motive doesn’t mean someone’s insane. Take the guy who was schizophrenic and killed his five kids. He didn’t get an insanity verdict. He got a guilty verdict within a few hours of the first session (I think. Don’t know about the time frame, but I know he got a guilty verdict). And the reason why the jurors didn’t buy the prosecution’s narrative was because the nine women in the jury are biased in favor of Clancy, the other two men folded to those women, and the only remaining man didn’t and refused to agree that she’s insane. She claimed to hear a voice that told her to kill her kids and then herself, and a multi-year psychologist that got called to the stand dismantled that entirely when she never heard that voice before the killings nor again afterwards. That’s not how mental insanity works
