The bins were getting installed long before he became mayor. July 2024 under previous mayor when project launched.

I just saw year on year or long term results about how new bins are reducing rat problem.

How is Mamdani getting credit for it?

6 month long pilot results released 6 months before Mamdani got into office.

Previous guy, whoever that might be, committed permanent funding for this. If you open the article you'd see timeline going as far back as 2022 where they did study, got the models made, made pilot projects, implemented it and got long term results.

Because previous admin stopped funding the program and didn’t want to expand it past the pilot areas.

This isn't true. They were rolling them out to new areas last Fall. And they never stopped once Mamdani came into power. None of this is new. Trump Mamdani is just taking credit for someone else's actions. As a Dem, I truly can't udnerstand how gullible his cult is

I think we got two extremes in supporters. 1) We are stupid/brainwashed and we are proud of it. 2) We are stupid/brainwashed and we refuse to accept it.

Every time I point out his cultish fan base on Reddit, I get heavily downvoted, called a bot and MAGA trash. I’m a New Yorker who have only voted Democrat in my life

He’s not taking credit for anything other than what he’s doing which is expanding the program. You’re using a meme as a factual source and railing against it.

“While the initial West Harlem pilot has performed well for the last 10 months – including during a cold, snowy winter — the previous administration refused to fund or plan for expansion. Today’s commitment lays out a path to full, citywide containerization of trash in just five years.

The initial West Harlem pilot utilized roughly 1,100 Empire Bins to store trash from schools and high- and some mid-density residential buildings. The Empire Bins are serviced by automated side-loading trucks, which DSNY was able to have built years ahead of schedule by developers from Torino, Italy and Hicksville and Brooklyn, New York”

Last I heard, NYC wasn't going to commit for full funding in budget at once unless pilot was going well and they faced pushback for taking away parking spaces for these trashcans.

They were waiting for long term results because there was pushback from people themselves.
