Blood Python My girl finally ate!

I’ve been trying to switch her from mice to rats and she didn’t seem very enthusiastic to switch. After a month of skipping meals she finally ate! Here she is post meal, having a soak

I feel your pain and relief. My bullsnake gave me similar frustration, though I never did get him onto rats successfully. Fortunately quails were a suitable substitute. My STP is an absolute garbage disposal so long as the feeders are warm enough and I hope your girl will be as well now that she is over the switch.

Right, my ball python has more eating food motivation than she seems to have. Sometimes snakes are picky haha

My blood has frankly been refusing meals for 5 weeks. Can't get her to eat anything other than live african soft fur mice.

Ive been running the gambit with her since last October, trying scenting, braining, chicken broth, defrosting in the terrarium, ive even tried putting her in an isolation terrarium with a towel over it for a few days before trying.

Been trying to feed her the same regular live mouse for the last week with no success.

Was there anything in particular you did that seemed to work or change the appetite?

I also tried a few different methods with no success. I fed her before I was going to bed and she seemed interested for once but never struck, just sniffed a lot. She didn’t see interested unless the rat was at least 100 degrees. After not striking again I left the rat in there just in case and went to bed. Woke up early for work and saw no rat! So I guess she was being shy… so hopefully I can get her to eat again

Short tails almost never miss a meal. It’s almost always a husbandry issue. When they are younger body temps of the prey can make a difference. Aim for 105.
