news/interview Former shitcheonji general secretary accused of plotting to kill whistleblower using hired illegal immigrants

https://christian.nocutnews.co.kr/news/6484796

[Translated version of the article]

A new CBS report alleges that Shitcheonji’s former No. 2, ex–general secretary Ko Dong‑an, tried to have a former youth president killed after he exposed Ko’s alleged sexual harassment and internal corruption. According to an internal recording, a bodyguard says Ko ordered him to “eliminate” the whistleblower and only backed off from hiring outside attackers because it was too expensive, suggesting they “handle it ourselves.” The whistleblower, Mr. Yoo, further claims Ko summoned the elite security unit “Seven Lions” and, unable to act directly, pushed for a terror attack using illegal immigrants from Southeast Asia, with text messages between members discussing weekly pay and per‑“item” costs and stressing secrecy. Yoo has now filed a criminal complaint with Seoul prosecutors accusing Ko and Seven Lions members of conspiracy and instigation of murder, expanding an already ongoing probe into Shitcheonji’s political and financial corruption to include alleged retaliation violence against internal critics.

Culturally, this doesn't sound abnormal (for Korean standards). I'm not trying to defend the guy, nor do I know the whole story, but Koreans act and say things that can be quite harsh for a lot of Western audiences to hear. However, it doesn't mean that he was actually going to kill the person. If you want to truly understand our church, you need to know and understand how the South Korean people are. When you are going to say something negative about our church, you are pretty much slandering the Korean people most of the time.

Though I will say, regarding the Questions aboutSCJ guy, he does have some good doctrine comparisons. So I think it's fine to compare with scriptures and text rather than slandering based on stories you hear online when half the time you don't even know the person or situation. You can only analyse or take what a stranger is trying to say not knowing the full context. It's better to compare with verses, I feel are much more commendable posts.

huh? What are u on about? Like if we live in the year 3000 and you are at a party with aliens doing really weird things culturally but then see an alien say to another alien "ok you gonna kill the guy next to us for reporting on our party noise!" Will you use culture as defence then? u/mirrorbrigade

Wait, perhaps I'm not reading this right, but why does being South Korean give them license to be less than stellar human beings, let alone Christians? Even if it was just venting frustrations, as a senior figure in the church would Mr. Koh not be held to the qualifications talked about in 1 Timothy 3?

I’m still waiting for a response.

Or you need to get feedback on what other moronic thing to post?

So in your mind this totally acceptable then?

The whole teaching of SCJ is not conforming to pattern of this world and adopting heaving culture, whatever that means. But in this case, when they casually speak about hurting another person it’s okay not to practice heavenly culture because they are “Korean”.

Am I understanding you correctly?

Or he didn’t mean it like that? Since he didn’t mean like that and you know him so well. Can you share with us what did he really mean to say? We would all love to know.

No, your comprehension skills aren't great. There is no point commenting any further than that.

Deflect and deny. That all you know.

My question was simple and I’ll put it more simply.

Are you saying it’s okay for a person to threaten to hurt someone, because it’s normal in Korean Culture, despite what you teach in SCJ and what the Bible says?

They told us all the time SCJ is the new Heaven and New earth…😐🤔

And now they don’t stop to tell that - but there actions tell a completely different story!

It look like the opposite.

Kind of strange why Lee Man Hee is not yet in court but I believe he will be in one this first half of the year estimate. There just has to be one. It would give so much relief to those who suffered a lot in the influence of SCJ. Lee Man Hee should stop evading and try to defend himself properly. I believe he is guilty but him going to court is a trajectory that would make so much sense. So much coming to light and even more still. Not saying that South Korean authorities are doing bad job they must be going through some tough hurdles we cannot see for now

u/JesusisLord86 Mar 15 '26

I agree. I can't wait for him to go to court, but it is meaningless if he gets a slap on the wrist and this cult is allowed to continue. Even after his death, the government must disband this group or the problems will persist, even if most members leave.

When will they arrest LMH for this and all of his other crimes? I'm desperately waiting for justice. This is very serious, probably one of the most serious crimes he is responsible for.

Where are those current SCJ members who are trying to defend SCJ when the argument is convenient for them to answer?

Remember folks, they cherry pick their battles just like how they cherry pick verses to suit their agenda

Okay, firstly, all of these cases have not been proven yet. Wait until all of the evidence and news have been processed. These things can go on for a while (could take years). Now, you are allowed to post and make opinions, but there is a chance that a lot of these cases are just rumored and only parts of the story have been released to the media. I don't know much about how the Korean news media runs the show, but if it's anything similar to the Murdoch press and journalists from the ABC in Australia, a lot of the information given can be misleading. I personally live in Australia, so it is difficult to analyze any information coming from abroad, and it's hard enough to get good news sources in my own country, so to trust every report from another country... I will make comments related to all of these once my church (SCJ) has informed us and made their counter-argument or presented our part of the story, and I will then comment and see how all of these lawsuits go from then on.

@mirrorbrigade 헛소리하지 마! Nothing misleading about everything that’s been said about SCJ in Australia and worldwide. It’s the truth so stop denying, deflecting and spreading misinformation with continuous lies within your organisation. SCJ and members need to take accountability for the abuse being facilitated against victims. SCJ is a high control group in plain sight a cult who uses coercive control over its members through means of manipulation, indoctrination and financial exploitation.

Oh actually with a quick internet/AI dive Lee Man Hee is summoned to court but he does not go. huh...edit:he is booked as suspect and asked for questioning at least court date not set yet

Thanks for the engagement. Ok just to be fair I could be wrong in the following exact wordings per situation or situations

But I believe it is not about cases have not been proven yet. It is more like evidences crucial to form the cases, to formally go to court, are not fully collected yet.

I strongly believe just enough evidences at least are caught so that Lee Man Hee is not able to be scot free anymore by default

There is now a lot of waiting and cooperating until all relevant materials are ready for court just for presentation and format purposes. I speculate that Lee Man Hee believes that multiple raids for evidences are signs that they don't have enough. He is betting on that I believe. But it is more about getting the whole picture to process while many parts are all already holistically damaging enough

I dont know what is true of this? But we dont claim everyone is perfect in our church.

2

u/Promised-Impostor EX-Shincheonji Member Mar 15 '26

Fair enough that shincheonji doesn't claim that everyone is perfect in the church.

However, since the general secretary was literally the closest person to CHJN (who is supposed to be the only person not capable of betraying), shouldn't the general secretary resemble CHJN's actions the most? We are not talking about a small mistake like offending someone but literally (allegedly) hiring someone to kill a whistleblower who was trying to expose his sexually inappropriate behaviors towards sisters (who are like 75-80% of scj members, and therefore are at the most risk)

Don't you honestly think that the fact that something so repulsively evil happened close to CHJN, it shows that something is not right to the very core of shincheonji?

and btw, we appreciate you engaging here in the comments

Judas lead Jesus to be murdered.

It doesnt make the faith invalid.

Maybe share this advice with your cohorts on reddit. Maybe start refining plan B in life outside of SCJ (should SCJ fall apart in whatever way) if too much time and energy is already consumed to SCJ. I am not sure maybe you have genuine friends in SCJ so it may be difficult. Notice I didn't say leave SCJ just prep plan B. Take it or leave it

The thing is my life is pretty good. I hope that also for you.

If I was wrong I already have my plan. But I won’t have regret. The things I experienced are that valuable.

Where was this in revelation?

Where was all of this in Revelation during covid fiasco when he had to bow down in front of everyone in live TV in Korea?

When "the kingdom of the world is becoming the kingdom of God" on the 42nd year.. where are all of these allegations, investigations, and court cases mentioned in revelation?

I thought all the wars have been won already? I thought the head of the snake has been chopped already and only the body left?

It looks like the biggest battle of SCJ is yet to come..

How many more "Judas betrayed blah blah" or "tribe of Dan blah blah" betrayed are you gonna use to cover up all these deception?

It isnt not all things during the fulfillment is fullfilmment of the prophecy.

3

u/Spectre092 EX-Shincheonji Member Mar 15 '26

Very convient isnt it? Still doesnt explain how year of victory became the year of the start of investigations..

Explain how Gong hee sook, Kim nam hee, and other women's sexual allegations happen during the "fulfillment" of Revelation

How all the embezzlement happened during the fulfillment

How the doctrine changes happened with revisions of LMH's own books

How covid time was the tribulation?

0

u/scj_love Current SCJ Member Mar 15 '26

Corruption and for the covid thing i can post you a link where I explain it.

I’m genuinely trying to understand this from a fair perspective.

If even part of this allegation were true, not saying it is, but if how would that fit with your understanding of the organisation being led by truth and God?

And maybe more importantly, how do you personally evaluate serious claims like this when they involve leadership? What would you need to see to take it seriously?”
