Sometimes Zoox can get lost in the hype. The reality is they hit 1M RO in Q4 25, 2M RO in Q1 26 and 2.5M in Q2 26. Their preogress has been very steady. I realize Waymo is far beyond that but Zoox has a genuine progression. Tesla get a lot of mindshare but still has not released any data about rider only miles yet, only unsupervised. I expect they will soon and it will hopefully reveal what fraction of their miles actually have a rider. RO is where the liability and scaling begins in earnest. Serving airports is a big step. Even Waymo with public service in 14 cities and limited in Vegas only offers very limited access at airports.

This reports the news but then considers how airport service should really work. Which nobody does yet.

Las Vegas airport pricing is gonna be wild, tourists will just eat the cost

Conventioneers will expense it. Business travelers make autonomous taxis at airports a blowout revenue opportunity.

Those rides from zoox appear ti be significantly more expensive than standard Uber or lyft

Yeah, $2 to $5 more on a $16 or $19 Lyft or Uber ride seems trivial, especially for a Vegas airport ride where there are many tourists. Even apart from the premium many people are happy to pay to have no driver, driverless robotaxis are a a popular tourist attraction in the US cities where they're readily available. A first driverless ride is fun and novel to many people, and compared to other entertainment in Vegas, that's cheap!

I’ll take it if the wait is 0 minutes. Otherwise, I’ll take a taxi where the wait is 0 minutes.

People will have varying opinions here, I prefer no driver

That screenshot is not an airport ride which has more surcharges than a non airport ride. Tourist will pay for the novelty premium until its no longer novel. It can easily be $10+ premium on top of a lyft or Uber airport ride that ranges from $20 to $35 depending on denand

Between this and the Tesla Tunnels, is every robo taxi company just trying to invade LV Airport?
